Good quality hardback binding
- there is much illustration, I do like pictures and they are quite beautiful certainly of original art. It detracts from the teachings, perhaps making the book a little heavier and less portable.UPDATE--- upon reflection i think that i might have been hasty here, and another book has made me think about this presentation style in more depth.- excellent quality bindings upon first inspection, high quality paper, and yes if you like illustrations them you have something to ponder between pages, thisight suit some readers. The fontwork is very legible. The books are not heavy. The hardcover is heavy duty.---Additionally I do not feel that I am in a position to criticise these texts on any level, they are what they are, it is not my place to look upon the wisdom of those who have for centuries been consulted in words, spirit, and mind.---Just try to read, learn, and think.---

Sometimes things ARE as good as they look.
When I saw that this collection included all seven hardbound installments of the military classics of ancient China - all for under £30 - I was incredibly dubious. After all, I've seen these books sold individually for that sort of price. Surely the quality would be poor? The text riddled with typos?Let me put your mind at rest. Each volume has thick, high quality pages with large, clear text. The books themselves are clothbound and classy looking, and the presentation box is remarkably sturdy. To be honest, this collection would be a bargain at £60. At £30, it's an absolute steal.
