We love this sturdy little bin for under the kitchen sink, although it looks nice enough (we got the copper color) that I think it could even sit out on the counter. It locks in smells when the lid is on and the smell actually isn’t even too bad when you pop the lid off to toss something inside. We’re very pleased and are excited to reduce our food waste in such a convenient way!

*Update:* Sorry, it's been slightly longer than six months since my original review but I wanted to come back to change my review from four stars to five because even after consistent daily use this bin is holding up great. No rust, no loosening of the handle, and best of all no leaking at the seams like I was afraid might happen. We've only changed the charcoal filter three times but never notice any odor from the can. We also noticed that the charcoal filter also effectively stops any maggots from growing...that was a gross but definitely illuminating discovery made while waiting for a new charcoal filter order to arrive. My best guess is that it actually stops the flies from getting in to lay eggs....*shudder*. All in all I 100% recommend this compost bin. Original review from 1/21/17: The bin's simple stainless steel design is sleek & attractive. It's a great size to sit on our 6" kitchen window sill with only a little over 1" hanging off & it's very well weighted so it stays in place without any danger of tipping over or falling off. It will hold at least a week of our kitchen scraps in a 2 person household & the charcoal filter is amazing for knocking out all smell. The inside of the can is very smooth so it's easy to rinse out any residue. I only have three cons but they aren't deal breakers. One, the biggest one, is that the seams on the bottom of the can are visible & though it seems well crafted, I'm a bit concerned it may end up leaking over time. That could just be paranoia from prior experiences though, so I'll try to update in 6 months or immediately if it starts to leak. Secondly, the finish does show water splashes & finger prints a bit so I have to wipe it down thoroughly every couple days to keep it looking nice. And lastly, if the bin gets too full it starts to press up into the charcoal filter in the lid so it gets it kind of grimy & can even push it out of its slot if you keep pushing the lid on when the bin is full. Simplest solution....don't be so lazy & just go empty the bin before it gets to that level. I just need to keep training myself & my guy to do that. ;) And I might actually cut a small piece of flexible metal screen to slide into place to keep the food from actually making contact with the charcoal filter. All in all it's a good purchase & we're pleased with it.

I ordered this bin 2 months ago and am extremely satisfied. The color is as pictured. Its darker than I expected for copper, but I really like it. The paint, or whatever is responsible for the color appears to be solid and not likely to scratch or chip off. The handle too is solid and swings freely. Being metal, I do have some concern that it might start to mark up bin, so I have put some tubing on it, to be safe. Over all, the unit is well built and is a great size. The lid fits fine and the original carbon filter still keeps all odors in, 2 months in. A solid lid may do the same, but I've found that those keep moisture in and invariably invites fruit flies in to multiply during the summer. This lid has holes to let humidity dissipate, but the filter keeps in the smell. This is exactly what I wanted.

Not sure HOW, but gnats easily get inside the unit & can lay larvae on the underside of the filter. Solved the problem by putting a piece of cling wrap stretched between the container & the lid. Other than that, the unit does a good job. Well built. No smells. Looks nice on my countertop. Would buy again but just beware of the possible gnat issue because once they get going you've got a war on your hands!

This is a great stainless steel counter top composter. It's easy to clean -- much easier than our previous plastic counter top composter. It shows no signs of rusting after over 8 months of use. We have never changed the filter and have never noted any unpleasant odors when it's closed. I empty it into my large outdoor composter every day or two, depending on how full it is. It's a great size for our family of 2-3. After emptying, I sometimes spray it out in the sink and then it's good to go. It doesn't need to be rinsed after most emptyings. The composter looks great. It matches our stainless-steel appliances. The handle is super sturdy and the lid fits snugly.

I have owned it for a year and love it. I bought this as a present for a friend. The one I previously had was ceramic and had a lip around the inside of the bin. When I tried to empty it the food would constantly get caught on that rim. I would use a bag, but it would still get caught on the rim, trying to pull it out. I search for a kitchen bin without the rim, and found this one and have loved it. The double filters on the cover, keep odors out, inside the bucket still has odors and the compost slides out very easily when dumping it. If I use a bag it slides out very easily but I don’t use the bag with this. It’s just as easy to dump it clean it. It comes with replacement filter but I haven’t used it yet. I just wash and rinse the filter. Wait until it dries put it back in the cover and so far no odors in kitchen. It is very sturdy worth the money I pd, Top is easy to open, just lift. It holds a lot and comes with the filters in place ready to use from the box. I would recommend getting this

This bin works great! Lid is a little tight around the edges but help keeps the smell in. Was using a gallon ice cream bucket before but this helped keep the aesthetic nice while being practical with food scraps. Very lightweight and sturdy!

This is a great compost container! It looks modern and the most amazing thing is it does not smell at all! I have had it for several months now you don’t smell a thing there could be rotten food in there. It’s been very helpful for me in my journey to composting.

Sehr hübsch und super Größe. Nachdem ich mir die Rezensionen durchgelesen hatte, war ich etwas hin und her gerissen. Aber der Eimer entspricht absolut meinen Erwartungen und meinen Ansprüchen. Optisch macht er einen sehr hübschen Eindruck und vom reinigungsaufwand ist er super. Einfach auswaschen fertig. Den Härtetest hat er geruchsmässig ebenfalls mit sehr gut bestanden. Ich habe Essig-Gewürz-Gurken hineingegeben und ihn extra Tage lang in der Küche stehen lassen. Da kam gar nichts an Geruch heraus, erst wenn man den Deckel hoch nahm. Der Deckel hat im übrigen keine Gummilippe und schließt nicht dicht ab, denn es sind ja Löcher im Deckel, die mit der Kohlematte versehen sind. Es kann also gar kein Unterdruck entstehen, sodass man sehr wohl mit nur einer Hand und ohne Kraftaufwand den Deckel anheben kann, um mit der anderen Hand die Bioabfälle einzufüllen. Die kohlematte lässt sich mit etwas Geschick gut herausnehmen und die neue wieder einsetzen. Ich denke, wenn man etwas aufpasst, dass der Rand sauber bleibt und der Deckel nicht vollkommen schmutzig wird, wird der Eimer kaum Probleme bereiten und sehr lange halten. Da man ihn heiß abwaschen kann und er keine Unmengen hineinfüllen kann, muss man ihn sicher nicht in die Spülmaschine stecken. Als Fazit: meiner Meinung nach ist dies ein wirklich guter Komposteimer und sein Geld auch wert.

We have only had this a few days but so far are very impressed. It is very solid and well engineered with a quality finish - better than expected and as good as if not better I hoped for which doesn't happen very often!! It looks great on the counter top. It is much higher quality than some bins I have seen. The sides are silid, and not flimsy, it is well balanced, not top heavy, and it has a brushed effect on the main bin section which looks great. The lid fits really well. I twist the top of the compost bags and knot at the side of the rim to stop them slipping down as there isn't a hoop or other fixing, but I think this is perfectly fine. NIce and simple with no parts to lose or break. A big elastic band could be another option of you find it awkward to tie knots. Bins with holes in the lid like this are so much better than ones with solid tops as moisture does not build up inside, so there are no nasty drips when you lift the lid up. Yay! And the charcoal filter is very effective at stopping smells from onions etc. I am not sure if I will go to the expense of buying more when the one supplied and the spare run out, but probably will get a couple for the the height of summer. And for me, the BEST PART is having no plastic inner bucket or paint on the outside - just pure metal, keeping additives and pollution to a minimum (I hope). Plus, for me, the inner buckets always seem to get in the way. I would prefer UK made bin, but this seems to be impossible. If it were 10% bigger it would be completely perfect but the size is actually fine. It does say "Utopia Kitchen" on the lid in small-ish letters, which I think could be moved to the side, but on the other hand if I had made something as nice as this, I would want the logo to be seen as well! I have been looking for a bin like this for a long time and am really happy with it. I hope this lasts as long as it looks like it should! Hurrah!!

Es de acero inoxidable, duradero y fácil d limpiar. Hasta la fecha utilizaba un cubo de plástico de compostaje. El cambio ha sido muy bueno, aunque este es más pequeño y tengo que vaciarlo más a menudo. Para limpiarlo es mucho mejor. Tiro muchas cáscaras y restos de verduras y hortalizas. Tengo compostadores en el jardín de casa. Este recipiente lo tengo en la cocina, y la verdad es que es muy elegante. La única pega, el tamaño para mi, me gustaría más grande. Pero para un piso está bien.

Me encantó ! Es de buen tamaño, se limpia fácilmente y el filtro ayuda a que no suelta olor desagradable ni hay mosquitos, lo recomiendo!
