As a practicing CFO I was so pleased to read this book by Samuel Dergel, Guide to CFO Success. Samuel truly understands the CFO profession; he is keenly aware of the challenges of the job and the motivations of those who want to succeed in this profession. The Guide to CFO Success offers real advice for managing your current position, while positioning yourself for future opportunities. The CFO Roadmap
The book is an easy and enjoyable read, discussing strategies that can be utilized by the top Finance person, within the organization. The techniques discussed are relevant in today’s market. The usage of CFO Advisors was a great way to present different concepts, and perspectives. I picked-up some tips that I can use to better manage both my employment and career. Great job Sam.

Business Management 101 - From a Recruiters Point of View
This was not the book I was anticipating. I would hope that many of the current CFO's out there would have a general understanding of this book, which; I believe most of the detail within it is just that, general. The information is in my opinion Basic 101 business management. I understand the writer's intentions, however; could have spent the time reading something that would have been much more relevant to the actual role of the CFO.

Bland, vague, and too expensive
This book was all fluff and didn't really add much value for me. The only portion I got anything out of was goal setting. And that wasn't because of the content, only because of the list of goals. It was a good list.Too expensive and everything was extremely vague and general. I powered through, but so far my least favorite book this year.

... up or a new CFO then this is a good introduction to what differentiates a CFO
If you are a controller looking to move up or a new CFO then this is a good introduction to what differentiates a CFO. I recommend it to my mentees. If you are a CFO, I have been for 20 years, then it does not offer much. Well written and easy to follow. Not to tedious (its an accounting book).Buy when you are a 28 year old controller and point your career using this as a guide to the skills you will need.

The book mentally prepares me for what I can do to excel as a controller and how to think and act like a CFO in my current posit
The book is truly inspiring for senior accounting professionals who is ambitious and striving for excellence. This book does not talk about the technical skills a CFO should possess. To me, the technical skills can be learned when you need to, but the skills this book introduced need to be learned in advance in order to reach the senior executive level. This book walks you through the journey from pre-CFO stage to becoming a CFO, to looking for the next CFO position. It talks about the different relationship management and provides insights on what need to be avoided as a CFO. As a controller, my career goal is to become a CFO in the next five years. The book mentally prepares me for what I can do to excel as a controller and how to think and act like a CFO in my current position. I really enjoy reading this book from the beginning to the end. Every chapter, every section, every paragraph provides me room for reflection on myself and enables me to see my own "blind spots". I will recommend this book to my friends who are senior finance executives or who are aiming to become a senior executive in the near future. Thank you, Samuel, for revealing the secrets of being a successful CFO!
