Super happy with these relatively big chess pieces. Each piece is made from an artistic and tasteful design that you will not find elsewhere but still retains a classic chess set appearance in general. Each piece is carefully produced and finished giving it a very pleasant feel in the hand, attractive to the eye. The actual set received is very beautiful in color and other aspects. The pieces are significantly nicer looking than the advertising led me to expect. The beauty of the pieces graces the 22” by 22” chess board I made by hand from pressure treated deck boards, sanded and stained with cedar PPG transparent stain. I use a vinyl portable roll up playing surface grid that lays flat upon the board. I chose not to use the felt bases because my experimentation revealed that the players are much more stable and unlikely to fall over if the felt bases are omitted. The players stand in a more stable manner without the felt bases.

exactly what i was looking for. very nice marble pieces that look great with both the sculpting/shapes and the colors. they have a good weight and solid feel to them. they fit perfectly on a 13” board with approx 1.5” squares. the king (with styrofoam bottom) is approx same height as a full size bic lighter and diameter of bottom of all pieces (with bottom) is exactly 1”. only negatives are 1.) having to put the styrofoam bottoms on every piece. you obviously don’t have to if you don’t want to, but these pieces feel like they should have some sort of protection. it’s just a pain peeling off the stickers, it takes a little bit of time to do all of them, and some of the styrofoam stickers aren’t perfectly flush to the bottoms (some operator errors and some pieces just didn’t match up perfectly, but there are plenty of extras). and 2.) the packaging - each set comes in a slab of styrofoam, with individual compartments for each piece, all taped together. it was sturdy and effective but the pieces are kind of loose in their own individual compartments, so i would’ve expected like a tighter form-fitting foam case or something to keep from jostling around so much. guess that’s why they sell the case separately. but other than that these things are legit. highly recommend.

These are beautiful pieces! The only trouble is the are close in color and sometimes hard to distinguish when in play. The checkers are even closer in color.

I purchased this set with high expectations and I am not disappointed!! These are quality pieces at a very reasonable cost. I have a 16” board and these are perfect for what I need. If you have a larger than 16” board, these will work perfectly for you as well. I’ll include pics of what the pieces look like on my board, I’m still very impressed by how great these pieces look in person. The dimensions of the set I received are listed bellow… for those that have an interest in the exact size. Width of base (All Pieces) = Just under 1 1/4” Height of Pawn (With Padding on the Bottom) = 2 3/8” Height of Rook (With Padding on the Bottom) = 2 5/8” Height of Knight (With Padding on the Bottom) = 2 7/8” Height of Bishop (With Padding on the Bottom) = 2 15/16” Height of Queen (With Padding on the Bottom) = 3 5/16” Height of King (With Padding on the Bottom) = 3 9/16” Take off approximately 1/16” from the height for each piece if you choose not to apply the padding to the bottom of your pieces. This is a beautiful set and it works straight out of the box with my DGT Centaur Computer chess board without having to tape metal disc on the bottom; no idea why but they work as is. Anyways this marble chess set is perfect for a 16 inch board. To get two more queens, contact the sellers and they can sell you two replacement queens for a fee. I am happy with the deal that we have made to get additional queens without resorting to buying two sets of which what do you do with all the rest of the pieces?
