Iggy with special friend Bowie
As for me, Iggy is one of the best Rock musicians. Then he has special and selected records. This is one of them. It's from the time Iggy and David Bowie spent living in Germany trying to solve any drug's troubles, as I been told. Well, in any way, David helped Iggy with this record (the record is produced by Bowie) and is a very special record (as I said before), sometimes a little bit depressing, but, at the same time Iggy is well inspired. By this time, as I've been told, Bowie was working in "Low" (also very special record from Bowie).

Smart buy
A disconcertingly intelligent record, for all its primitive beats and apparently simple emotions. But there's sophistication and depth here in the performances, and the writing - Iggy seemed to try to be but was and is (at least when not obliterated) no dum dum boy. Plus, it has the original versions of "China Girl" and "Sister Midnight" and "Nightclubbing". A companion piece to *Lust for Life*.

Iggy meets Bowie
Iggy Pop gets out of the hospital and travels to Berlin, where David Bowie waits in an underground bunker of a studio. They write, record, and release a classic suite of drum-heavy, nihilistic pop. Bowie would raid this record when he recorded "Tonight" a few years later. This has "Sister Midnight" and "China Girl." What're you waiting on? Buy it.

Genuine Rock of an era
From the height of his career, although not with the Stooges, Iggy captured as much power and imagination as any one of the pioneers of punk. You feel the verve of each of the songs as they play- you cant sit still. One interesting note on one song: "China Girl" was his long before David Bowie's version.

A blend of goodness and greatness
Wish 4.5 stars was an option. It's not perfect, but it's damned good. A sometimes delicate, sometimes lurching mix of minimalist rock and cabaret. Nice to hear China Girl before it got the MTV treatment.

Classic Iggy
Nice update of a classic from Mr Pop, for new fans of his latest (Post Pop Depression) this is a great bookend to Igg's legacy of 40 years past! Guaranteed to please!

Brilliant. Up there with Iggy's very best albums.
Without doubt I've been a bit of an idiot to not get round to certain classics like this wonderful record. I have been playing this everyday, twice it so a day the last week or so and it gets better everytime.Bowie's collaboration with Iggy is an outstanding record and sits happily alongside Funhouse and Post Pop Depression and Transformer (Bowie produced Lou Reed Here, who makes an appearance on the Idiot- the track Nightclubbing) as just a great great album.I managed to catch Iggy's and Bowie's appearance on the Tonight Show which made me at last want to get the album, such was their obvious chemistry. They performed Funtime and the groove on that alone just blew me away. Just perfectly organic, funky, jazzy and also strangely prescient of the soon to be Germanic music movement that would happen soon after in Europe. Finally a quick mention of China Girl which I knew was written by Iggy but I had no idea it was on The Idiot. Have to say I love Iggy's original....puts a new light on what for me now feels like a lovely dedication to Iggy on what was probably David's greatest commercial success of an album (Let's Dance)Anyway it is brilliant.

A genuine classic
Still masterful. Amazing how so many people rate this although it never achieved much commercial success. Classic tracks include China Girl and Nightclubbing. Bowie very much there in the background but without overshadowing Iggy. Shame the latter only progressed from this to insurance adverts,
