Madhumati

I watched Madhumati last night- not exactly sure what to expect. I'd never seen an Indian film before, and was very pleasantly surprised! At first I had a bit of trouble following the English subtitles while at the same time following the movie. I loved the woman who played Madhumati- she was gorgeous and danced in ways I had never seen.This is a story about love that transcends time and space, it's about reincarnation, and ghosts too.I won't add any spoilers, just want to say that this is a lovely film.

Best acting by Dilip and Vajanti.

One of the best movies to come out of Bollywood. The songs are part of the story instead of just being breaks in the story as in other movies. The acting is good. Some subtitles are not grammatically correct, but the movie is still worth watching.

The movie Madhumati was made for lovers everywhere. It portrayed the saying "love never dies" perfectly and the actors, Dilip Kumar and Vijantymala were the perfect couple in this love story. There was just the right amount of romance and tragedy shown in this movie with a very interesting twist towards the end. The songs were amazing and they fit the movie perfectly. My favourite one was "toote hoi khabo ne." To top it off, Johnny Walker gave a wonderful performance that added much needed comedy to this film. I cannot think of any scene that i disliked, the directors did a wonderful job making sure that the movie was always interesting.

a wonderful film. I saw it on tv about 25 years ago and tried unsuccessfully to get it on video, saw it on tv again a few weks ago and looked to see if it was on dvd. I couldn't believe my luck when I got it and have watched it so many times. It has subtitles too which is great as I am an English person who loves Indian films and I need to understand the story, Fantastic story, lovely film and beautiful actress singer who plays Madhumati, she has the voice of an angel. I'd recommend anyone of any nationality to see this film and you too will be hooked.

Absolutely love this film, bought it to replace an old copy. Dilip Kumar is one of the finest actors ever so if your into Bollywood make sure you see this film.

It is an iconic film and was a sensational one when it ws released. My family enjoyed and reminisced about the film

The picture, despite its fantasy of rebirth, recollected and retold to a doctor friend of the protagonist is both pulsating and enjoyable.The Saleel Choudhury composition is charged with as much magical effectivity as tone and voice rendered by Lata, Rafi and Mukesh.The matchless Dilip Kumar and Vyajayanti Mala, his ebullient lady love mismerise the audience and the viewers with their never ever performances.It is no wonder that all combined together have created a Film Fare Award record, unsurpassed till now.
