Back to basics: a good, old-fashioned egg beater
Once in awhile we find the need to get back to fundamentals in the kitchen, to go back to those appliances like Grandma used before the days of power appliances. Had occasion recently to try out a good, old-fashioned hand mixer, commonly known to many as an egg beater, and it was this Progressive International Egg Beater that really impressed me with its efficiency. We do some cooking with eggs on the weekends. We like to create a variety of omelets now and then, or sometimes want to whip up a batch of pancakes. And it's frequently too much of a bother to pull out the electric hand mixer, fiddling with cords and beaters, to do these simple tasks. That's where this simple egg beater comes in handy. It's simple, quiet and does the job. It has highly-efficient beaters which are ideal for eggs, pancake batter, whipping cream and more. The stainless steel beaters have a 2-1/2 diameter that allow it to fit easily in measuring cups or smaller mixing bowls. A simple turn of the handle starts its beating action, and when we're finished, it takes a quick rinse and into the dishwasher it goes.Don't take me wrong, I'm not ready to give up on electrical appliances. I already have a great power mixer, a Cuisinart HM-50 Power Advantage 5-Speed Hand Mixer and for heavier or more complex tasks, it works perfectly. But there are times that it's overkill when all we need is something simple. This was a recent purchase, and there were others on the market to pick from, in a wide range of prices. Already own the 19-Piece Measuring Set and the Meat Pounder from Progressive International, so I'm comfortable with their quality, and found this manual hand mixer to be a good choice. The red handle, rotator and crank go with nothing at all in our kitchen, but I don't care as it's easier to find at a glance when looking through a drawer full of kitchen gadgets.Going back to the basics is a good thing - it's a great old-fashioned egg beater that works.

Progressive Egg Beater
The egg beater's quality was fine. The color that was shown was red. I received an aqua one. When I inquired about exchanging it, I was told that it would cost me a 20% restocking fee. Ridiculous!

Lasted 5 years with no issues
I had this item for exactly 5 years and 1 month of weekly use and it finally died. I could have fixed it (the beater part came undone) but I am planning on buying another one and hoping it lasts just as long. I put this in the dishwasher all the time too.

I searched high and low for this beater
It's sad but true, I really spent way too much time buying this beater-- a replacement for the beater I took from my Mom when I moved out 25 years ago. I was leery about buying one with plastic parts, but this seems just as well-made as the all metal tool I used for all those years. I own a b&b so I cook breakfast almost every day of the year. I beat eggs almost every day of the year. This beater has been in constant service since it got into my hands about 2 or 3 weeks ago.The mechanism turns nicely and doesn't constantly jam up like my old one was starting to do. I frequently beat heavier items with it, like batters, and it turns just as smoothly as it does beating eggs. Will it last 25 years? I don't know. For the price I wouldn't begrudge buying a replacement in 10 years.

Item arrive cracked
The plastic wheel was cracked when we received it so we cant really play with the item or test it out. We are disappointed and this now has to be returned for a refund, and then we have to place a new order to get it re-sent out. There wasnt an exchange option. The item was shipped in a padded envelope and I feel that if it had been sent in a box then maybe it would have arrived in better condition. I have to wonder if that was an omen and we are going to look at a unit that is all metal since maybe the plastic is not a good idea.

My Wife Loves Hers
My wife asked for an old fashioned egg beater. Not just for eggs, but for a number of things where she wanted more control and a slower mixing speed. While this may not be built as well as those from fifty years ago, it are solid and works fine and smooth. Others have complained about their orders, but there are no problems with ours. Our old and new mixers sit idle as this is usually the "mixer" she grabs. Instant "on", no cord to plug in and cleanup is the same as with a corded mixer.

Does not last forever
Worked well at first but then broke beyond repair after the sealant broke down from washing
