It really helps keep the items like eggs, cheese
We just used this shelf in our Coleman steel belted ice chest for the first time. It really helps keep the items like eggs, cheese, produce out of the ice and keeps them dry. It is easy to remove for daily ice chest management while camping.

Too much work!
I liked the concept but it seemed like a lot of work to put it together so I decided to just sell it at a garage sale next year. I was really hoping I could just find a basket that would just fit in the cooler so it was less work.

Brenda's Review
I was looking for a plastic tray when I came upon this product. It works alright but was very hard to line up in installation to ice chest. The velcro which has a sticky backing is very unforgiving if you need to move it. In other words it does not adhere well the second time around. The company only supplies you enough velcro for one installation.

Awesome product
Followed the simple instructions and they work great! Installed in the coolers strapped onto the back of our Razors. Been on several trail trips, lots of bumps and thrashing about, and they work as described!

Great idea, well executed
We bought this just in time for a 6 week mostly camping trip as we visited National parks. We cooked most nights that we camped, so were very dependent on our cooler. We can’t speak too highly of the shelf. We kept our fruits, vegetables, and condiments on it. I can’t imagine the fruits and vegetables surviving the ice bath below them, even if we could have found them down there. It was a real treat to open the cooler and grab the carrots off the shelf, toss some of them in a stew, and then casually throw the remainder back on top of the shelf. So what is it? The material is some kind of very flexible plastic-fabric. It has Velcro attached at strategic positions. You attach provided adhesive Velcro to one end of your cooler, and then across the two long sides for about a foot. The shelf then attaches to the three sides. Lastly, you strategically place a few other pieces of Velcro that allow you to fold up a flap, creating a fourth side, which is about four inches high. You end up with what we think of as a four-sided, topless bin, sagging somewhat in the middle, attached to your cooler. Some things to consider. We found equilibrium temperatures on the shelf ranging from the mid-40s to the mid-50s, depending on ambient temperature, the amount of ice in the cooler, and whether we had bothered to throw a sleeping bag over the cooler. My guess is that in a hot environment with the cooler low on ice, the temperature would be even higher. So the shelf is good for veggies but not meat. My guess is that you’ll want to adjust the height of the shelf so that the top of your cooler just touches the flap (the fourth side) when the lid is down. This will keep ice from spilling into the shelf if you should fill the cooler to the top with ice. Given the slack in the material, this probably means putting the top edge of the Velcro about 2-3 inches below where you think the bottom of the lid will be. One reviewer commented on the shelf holding ten pound. We had less luck. Call it “Velcro fatigue”, but after several days with the shelf holding, among other things, several jars of condiments, one edge of the shelf slipped. We simply made executive decisions as to what had to be on the shelf and went on from there. A reviewer for another shelf-size complained about water damaging the tape. While we sometimes piled ice as high up as we could under the shelf, we never had so much water in the cooler that it made contact with the tape. Lastly, as one reviewer has implied and as specifically stated in the instructions, this is absolutely not a follow steps 1-10 and suddenly see a shelf attached to your cooler. Before installing you really need to take a few minutes (more than I care to admit) to figure out how it’s going to work. Only then follow the instructions.

great idea but poorly made.
didn't hold much of anything and we even had to glue it on. I wouldn't buy this again.
