On July 5th, 1969, King Crimson played to upwards of 500,000 people on a bill topped by The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park, London. It was a pivotal point for the band. The next evening, King Crimson played their regular club date - a crammed Marquee Club in the same city. Recorded by an audience member, the original tape of the concert found it's way to Robert Fripp & DGM many years later. Pre-dating the release of In The Court Of The Crimson King by more than three months & showcasing material from that album, the tape captures the raw power that had already made Crimson London's hottest new band. Also included is the only known recording/performance of Trees from October 1969. While the audio quality of this recording is poor & no amount of restoration can improve upon that, it's rarity earned it a place as a bonus track.

RUNS OFF PITCH….
People go compare this to the other live ‘69 shows, like when Lake sings that long note…..the tape used runs fast. I have a copy on cassette that can be adjusted to correct speed….not a good one to boast as “Volume One…”

I enjoyed listening to this
I enjoyed listening to this...bootleg. Although it is an official release, one can't get past the obvious lack of clarity.of sound. Many boots from this era sound far better, but I can't find any of Crimson, so i bought this. Good material included. For the completist only.

Bootleg Music
This definitely bootleg quality, sound is not very good. I took a chance at this just for the sake of seeing what this group sounded like live in their early days. It was disappointing that the sound quality was so poor. The music is interesting in the sense you hear snippets of songs that will surface on later King Crimson albums.

Not good at all.
This is probably the worst music that I have ever heard! I have certainly heard music by King Crimson that I have really liked, but this is not it. It is just a bunch of underdeveloped, uncreative noise. I was totally disappointed.

Do not waste your money
Do not waste your money. The sound quality is that of my bootlegs from cassette deck of that era. Join Wolfgangs vault and pay $5,00 for the download from 12/69. You'll be much happier.

Nur für echte King Crimson-Sammler ... 2 bis 4 Sterne ...
Dieses Konzert der 'King Crimson' am 6. Juli 1969 / Live at the Marquee, London steht für ganz frühe Live-Shows der Band.
