Q: how many flies are included

About 6 poppers, worthless. Do what I did, get a dozen flies for $6 on eBay.

Q: Double taper or weight forward?

According to the line numbers it comes with a level #6 Floating line (LT6F). You'll want WF6F, Weight Forward #6 Floating. Easiest to learn casting on.

Q: What type line is included....level, weigh forward, tapered?

This has a level fishing line. This makes it more difficult for the beginner fly fisherman to learn how to cast. I confirmed this with the manufacturer.

Q: Is the rod great for taking out of the country fishing

I wouldn't fish for anything bigger than maybe a 5 pound bass tops. I got a 4 pounder on mine and it seemed like a stretch.
