Networking for Dummies, 11th Edition

A necessity if you are setting up a home or office network without professional help.
My enthusiasm for Doug Lowe goes back many years, when I used his manuals as an IBM mainframe programmer. The style of this book is easy to read, with some geek humor. Some study of the book's organization produces facility in finding answers to my questions. There is also a website for this particular book that provides additional and timely information.

Fine except for the blank spaces.
A lot of blank places where named items are discussed. Things like XYZ.COM show up as blank spaces. I am reading it on with the Kindle app on an Android tablet if that matters, but it should work in any case.

About 80% of the book is easy to understand
I'm not quite through the book but it is very good. There are some parts about subneting for example that your not going to understand just reading thos book. Most of it is a good way to understand basic networking

Great book - easy to understand
As with most of the "Dummies" books, this is very well written with a layout that keeps you engaged. Provides clarity to a difficult technical subject. Highly recommend.

Doug Lowe's wordiness!
I do not like Doug Lowe’s blathering style of writing. Get to the point!

Until I got this book, I was totally phobic about "networks".
They still frighten the living daylights out of me but I'm starting to understand why. This is a super book that even I can understand. It is clearly written, not condescending and does not make assumptions regarding prior knowledge. It is also, (I think), very good value for money. I am feeling confident enough that I have started a project to extend our current network to cover the rest of our, (very old and thick-walled), house.

Computer networking
I found the book very helpful in setting up my home network. Depending on the level of basic or technical information a person requires this book answered all of the questions I had & guided me through the steps I needed to follow.Would recommend this book.
