Whatz It Fidget Toy

My son is 16 and he is autistic, when he was a little boy, around 1 he locked eyes on this exact toy at the cracker barrel and insisted I get it for him, and so I did.My son loved this toy, he took this toy everywhere with him and it even was with him every hospital stay he had. When he was older and could talk, he named this toy, The toy that can do anything. 14 years later we still call it that.Finally when my son was about 13, it began to fall apart. When he is uncomfortable, he plays with it.I looked high and I looked low and finally I found this awesome sauce toy on Amazon. It was harder than expected. I can't exactly google the thing that can do anything..lol.I finally figured out it was a wooden puzzel and it didn't take long to find.I ordered him a new one for Christmas and he was so excited to have his toy back and to be able to use it again.10/10 would buy again

Update three years later: Wow, these things are shockingly durable! Ours are still going strong. And not only does our now-sixteen year-old...so does everyone else in the house. Guests who find it lying around when they visit inevitably end up fidgeting with it for their entire visit. Such a simple toy, and yet so perfect!original reviewL We got this originally for a preteen on the Autism spectrum. He really benefits from having fidget toys. This one is not only one of his favorites, everyone else in the family ends up fidgeting too -- we are going to have to get more of them. We bought a cheaper version with smaller blocks but more blocks, and without the design, because it seemed more appropriate to a non-toddler user...but it broke within a few weeks. And more importantly, it just didn't feel as good in our hands. This one is just heavy enough and solid enough to be kinesthetically satisfying.

My nine-year-old son absolutely loves this toy. He suffers from anxiety and says that this toy really helps him calm down. It's been far more successful than any other fidget toy he's been offered. The trick will be finding a way to keep it close at hand for those moments of frustration or anxiety, as it isn't exactly pocket sized.

This toy was made in China. That's ok, some toys should be made in China. It's not a super fancy toy. It has blocks, connected to one another by elastic bands on the interior, and the blocks are able to be shifted about and manipulated. You can move them to make a line, cube, or other geometric or interesting shapes. It does have its limits because there are elastic bands on the inside.Should you buy this toy? Yes. It's a great little gift for kids. They also make robot and firemen ones that are awesome and in a specific shape. This one is a "Whatz It" and it belongs on a desk in a cubicle, on a conference room table, in a child's stocking, or Easter basket. It's something that is fun to futz with and doesn't make any noise - a favorite for parents who want a few minutes of silence. Every parent needs an arsenal of quiet toys to use when jingly keys, actual blocks, or vroom vroom matchboxes just won't do.I hope it stands up to a decent beating. It seems durable enough, but time will tell. So far, every kid that I have seen touch this toy has loved it, and adults can't help but play with it too.Recommend.

Really. Just get this toy. Seems so silly and so mundane, but I have seen it keep more kids occupied for longer than anything else I have tried.I have a 3 1/2 year old daughter and she goes everywhere with us. We don't do screens at restaurants and this fidget toy (she calls it her wedgie toy :)) is just the perfect way to keep her hands busy.We would struggle sharing it with others because she always wants it, so I bought another one to keep in my car for when we are out with friends.Buy this, and don't forget you have it - you'll be thrilled you do.

Love that the company sends out an email notification that it's been shipped. That's a lot different than typical amazon purchases. We purchased a few for my son's classroom of first graders. They are an awesome tool for those children that fidget and excessively talk, these are one of a few items that keep them entertained while the teacher is instructing. In our school district, they only have one recess, after lunch, and during cold/rainy days they must do a quiet play inside the classroom. This causes the young boys to be very fidgety.Thank you What Zit for helping our children with controlling their fidgeting!

My 3 year old won one of these at an arcade and I never imagined this would be his favorite toy still a year later. He doesn’t go anywhere without it. He calls it his robot transformer. He even sleeps with it every night. Unfortunately he lost his so I was so happy to find the exact one here! Can’t wait to see his face when he opens it on Christmas!

Our 7yo daughter has used this fidget regularly since Easter (so 2 months now) both at home and school and its stood up well. It doesn't make sounds when she plays with it and keeps her hands occupied while she's trying to concentrate on important tasks. When she's left it out on the dining room table, my husband and I find ourselves playing with it too! It's very satisfying to fidget with! It appears to be beautifully designed and very durable. Folded up as a square it looks tidy on her shelf. We'd recommend!
