For a year when it seems to have rained on every Saturday and Thursday when I am employed to walk in fields and woods in wind or rain.. this hat has proved to be the answer... searched for waterproof wide brimmed hat, with chin strap (last hat kept blowing off) and this is what I found.. and it works.. I've stayed dry, and the hat has stayed on!

I have yet to wear it, but am very impressed. Who knew you could get squashable leather hats! I’d always been put off leather hats as not fitting in one’s luggage.You can ignore an earlier reviewer’s comment about the inner band being just glued in. Everything seems properly stitched on mine - perhaps they’ve changed their manufacturing process.I agree with other people’s comments that the hat is not over tall, so it does sit on the top of your scalp. But that doesn’t put me off, and the squash-ability outweighs that for me.

On the plus side, this is a nice leather hat which has a wonderful leather smell.The chinstrap is useful, for windy days and it fitted me well.On the minus side, there is no air gap at the top of the hat, so the top touches your head when wearing it.The main reason for my purchase, was that it was advertised as waterproof. I treated it with leather/wax treatment but it still soaked up a lot of rain. I think I should have selected the waxed cotton version which might have worked better.

Excellent headware that has proven to provide 100% protection in the rain.A waterproofing footwear spray was applied on receipt, as directed and the performance has been exactly what I required.Sizing is as described and the fit is perfect.Well worth the money and I quite expect it to serve me for many years to come.Comments suggest that it does look good too.

Bought a 3xl for a particularly large head! But it fits well. We have bought 3 different hats in 3 styles and 3 sizes and they have all been a really good fit. Very nice hats and a good price.

It's made in very soft leather, because of this is a little stretchy, great!! The only downside is the depth of the hat which is rather shallow and allows the top of your head to touch the leather, not good on a very hot day!

Everything about this hat is brilliant. Perfect for wet weather, easy to tuck into a pocket and very stylish. Bought as a present for my husband and now I want one.

I absolutely love this hat... ordered XS.It's not a sturdy structured hat and not loose or floppy. It's floppy enough to put into a bag and not worry about it loosingit's shape...I would give it 5 stars, but there is some visibility of the glue used (very minimal) and the strings that go under your chin may give way at some point but I will glue more on when this happens. Smells delicious like fresh new leather. I plan to use this on safaris in the African bush!
