Just what I needed!
I bought this product to protect my entry doors from the wrath and joy of my little rescue dog. When the doorbell rings, Max claws at the front door and jamb in a fury, trying to get to whoever dared to ring the bell. Also, when I return home through the garage, he claws at the laundry room door and trim in excitement. My wooden doors were originally stained a dark color, which hid the evidence of his scratching pretty well. However, I recently painted the doors white, and realized Max was likely to ruin the new paint if I didn't take some precautionary measures. I looked at several similar items on amazon, but the Clawguard seemed to offer the best protection to both the door and jamb. It is very easy to install by slipping it over the doorknob. I haven't used the Velcro stabilizer yet, since the paint needs 30 days to cure before sticking anything to the door. However, it is already having the desired effect. I hung it with the smooth side to the door, and Max doesn't like the sound or feel of his claws on the textured side. Even if they didn't bother him, the Clawguard is designed in such a way that he can't push or scratch it out of the way of either the door or jamb. Of course, I do need to point out that Max weighs only 15 pounds and doesn't have the physical force of a larger dog. But for my purposes, the Clawguard works very well and is doing exactly what I hoped it would: keeping my energetic boy from ruining the doors and trim. My front door opens inward, which makes it very easy to use the Clawguard. My laundry room door opens outward, which requires a bit of maneuvering to close the door behind me as I leave. However, the Clawguard is flexible enough to allow me to gently push it inward as I close the door. I used strong scissors to trim the upper corners, rounding them off a bit so they don't catch my clothes as I walk by. This product has certainly saved the appearance of my doors and trim. I'm pleased enough with the performance and durability of the Clawguard that I hope to purchase a third one soon to protect my back door after painting it. I would recommend this product to anyone having a problem with their dog scratching their doors and trim.

Dogs are destructive family =)
Nice product. Came flat, not rolled up!!! I cut it down a little to fit best on my brand new French door. I used strong magnets as another reviewer suggested on my steel door to keep it straight and it not flop around when door opened. It appears it will work well for my 90lb Goldendoodle (who I trained, like a dummy, to scratch the door when she wants out). Time will tell a to how well it will hold up... but, it appears to be a good, heavy plastic material.

Less expensive that paint, a sander, or door trim
Moved to a new house and was worried abt the dog scratching at our new doors. I purchased a total of 3 of these. I think the dog has only actually scratched at these once. For some reason he’s actually sort of freaked out by them, and does not like scratching them. So I suppose they serve their purpose! They can be a pain in the A coming in and out the doors. But on the plus, they also sort of provide a buffer to keep puppy from slipping between feet. I tried to take pictures but the frosted glass can be difficult to photograph. The first 2 pictures should be the kitchen door. On this one I had to trim the right side down because the counter is next to the door. The plastic is thick, so I could not get the piece onto the door without trimming. I also had to trim the bottom of both the kitchen and side doors. I didn’t on the front door, so I guess maybe my knobs are at different heights... once trimmed, the plastic does not sit straight and tilts on the knob, leaning into the cabinet. I tried trimming the other side to even out and it wasn’t successful. In the kitchen image, you can see the plastic coming away from the door. I wasn’t sure if this was due to the knob or what. The last two images are the side door. The guard was also curving up on the side door. Because of the weight I couldn’t keep it on the door, so I cut a hole in the top to let the deadbolt out. I couldn’t find my packing tape so this is currently being held together with painters tape which is not the best look. If it would have stayed up without me cutting it, I probably wouldn’t have bothered. I thought about cutting the top down now, since the dog hasn’t been scratching, but my luck he’d start doing it directly above that spot! Overall, these have been effective for me. They aren’t best looking, and I’m hoping not to keep them up forever. Thinking they’ll come down once the puppy is used to the knew house, and then stay in the basement in case we ever have a new dog. Definitely worth spending the money on these instead of a door!

door dog scratch protector
my dogs scratch at the door when they hear anyone drive up my driveway. I had this product for many many years and it worked great. Recently I fostered a Great Dane and although he did not scratch the door, when I was opening the door, he ran out before I had the door all the way open and snapped it in half. I immediately ordered another, and I bet it will last for the rest of my life. I also like the fact that it doesn't look scratched and is so easy to keep clean. Perfect fit for my door and easy to cut if necessary. Great product!!!!

Es muy bueno para que el perro no lastime la puerta cuando me escucha llegar y con las patas delanteras la golpea

My retriever pulled and ripped it down and destroyed within a couple days, chewed all the edges. The tiny piece of velcro that stuck it to door isn't strong enough at all.

Overpriced and ineffective. Kept falling off.
