Perfection!
This non-slip pad is perfection. It does exactly what it was designed to do. I can't say enough good things about it. If you're on the fence take the plunge. You won't be disappointed.Though there were no instruction on how to use it or deploy it, with a bit of thinking you'll figure it out. Don't peel the backing off the pad until you get it in place.I have an oriental rug over carpet in my livingroom. The rug was always slowly moving across the carpet and bunching up on my couch. I have a chair on one corner that I thought would hold the rug in place, but that never worked. I would have to move the chair and drag the rug back into place every week. Now that this pad is in place the rug hasn't move at all. It stayed exactly where I put it. I can vacuum the rug with no issues and haven't had to adjust it once since using this pad. This is one of the best purchases I've made in a long time. Here is how I suggest you set it up:Vacuum the area onto which you're going to put the pad, and vacuum the bottom of the rug you're going to use it to hold in place. Both side of the pad are sticky, but only one side has a backing to peel off as the other side is folded onto itself for protection. I put the pad down onto rug I wanted it to hold in place with the protected side down. This allowed me to trim it with heavy duty scissors on two sides to make it just a bit smaller than the rug.Once that was done I rolled up the rug, put the pad down on the livingroom carpet with the unprotected side down while leaving the backing on the other side. This allowed me to smooth out the pad and help remove some of the creases created by it being folded to fit into the packaging.I then unrolled the rug back onto pad. This allowed me to make sure the pad was completely hidden by the rug. It also allowed me to walk over the rug to get the pad to stick to the carpet. I kept checking the pad to make sure it was smooth. If it wasn't I unpeeled the backing, pulled the pad from the edge, and then allowed the backing to fall back on it so I could keep adjusting both the pad and run.Once everything was where I wanted it, I rolled the rug up to one end, then with it still rolled up, rolled it just far enough towards the center of the pad to start peeling the backing off the top of the pad. Once about a quarter of the backing was peeled away I rolled the rug back to the peeled edge. I knelt on the edge of the rug that was now being stuck to the top of the pad and kept peeling the backing off the top of the pad while unrolling the rug. I did this all the way across the pad. This worked great and the rug hasn't moved since.

Works well
I needed to prevent buckling of a 5'3"x7'3" rug place on a berber carpet. I roll an office chair on, off and around the rug. This pad did the trick! As they say in a famous commercial, no more wrinkles! The normal procedure is to first stick the pad on the carpet and then lay the area rug down on the pad. For me, I found that doing the opposite - attaching the pad to the area rug first and then laying the area rug + pad down on the carpet worked best.

Not perfect, but best product I’ve tried for a large area rug over carpet
I wouldn’t say this is the perfect product to keep a large area rug on carpet, but it is definitely the best product I’ve tried. I bought an 8x10 area rug for a highly trafficked living room to protect our brand new carpet and give the room some more style and NOTHING would keep this rug in place. I was adjusting it every single day. It would bunch up and shift just by walking on it. I tried Carpet Tape, which did not work and eventually lost adhesion, anchoring it under a sectional couch... the list goes on.Magic Stop works well if you follow the instructions posted in the 2013 review that everyone references. Follow them to a T or you’re going to have issues like the people who wrote the low star reviews.I love that it covers the entire rug and not just corners or edges like other products. The adhesion seems low when you first put it down but it sticks to both the carpet and the rug well despite what it seems. It is also very easy to trim with scissors. The install was kind of time consuming and frustrating with a very large area rug, but worth it for how it’s working to keep the rug in place. I’m just hoping it holds up over time!

Not binding to area rug
The pad binds to carpet well but not to area rug. Tried trimming pad to see if making it smaller helps and area rug is still moving around.

Amazing! So far it works!
I have a colorful lovely 7x9 rug that has never lain flat. It has an extremely heavy coffee table on it, and no matter what I did, it always bunched up. Pinning it under furniture didn’t help. Moving the table away from the rug didn’t help. This 2-sided semi-sticky rug pad seems to be working great, although it has just been a couple days. Well worth the cost. The table is back on the rug and both are getting along. :)

Hey, It Works....
Problem: Had a large oriental rug, on top of an existing wall-to-wall carpet, and it insisted on moving in unpredictable ways, creating rumples and humps that could only be cured by removing multiple items of furniture, doing a lot of rug-tugging, then moving all the furniture back. And then, it would have rumples and waves within two days. The pad's been down for a good long time, with nary a wrinkle. Success! It is a bit tricky to get it down, particularly for a larger, heavy rug. It's a two-person job, unless you have miraculous skills. Actually, a fifth and sixth hand might come in - well - handy.Applying expertise gleaned from some prior reviews, here's the procedure:- Get the rug in exactly the position you want it. We spent some time on this, since - as is the case with heavy hand-knotted oriental rugs generally - it can be a bear to get the thing all rectilinear and properly placed.- Mark the corners with blue painter's tape applied to the underlying carpet.- Carefully roll the rug up as tightly as possible, and move it out of the way.- Lay the pad down with one corner exactly on one of the tape-marked rug corners, making sure it's and straight and correctly oriented.- Trim two sides of the pad with scissors, so that the whole pad is within the corner marks. Getting a straight cut was pretty-near impossible while crawling around on the floor. It doesn't really matter if the pad is a little inside the correct line, so long as it's not outside. For an improved nice-and-straight line, you might use a long straight edge or a taut string to mark the cut-line.- Carefully position the rolled-up rug along the appropriate edge of the pad, being careful to get it straight.- Slowly unroll the rug, constantly ensuring it's down flat.Done!

Did not work on carpet, at all!
I wanted to stop a small rug from sliding on the carpet. It looked from the description that this would be the solution. Not at all. Does not work on carpet. It does work fine on on-carpet surfaces, but definitely not on carpet.

Works as described!
This underpaid works quite well for my area rug I wanted to lay on top of the wall to wall carpet in the living room seems to hold both the area rug in place very well, we did have to get tape to hold down the edges as well. With this done, the carpet stays in place, no shifting, no curling of the edges. This underpaid was also a great price! I’m very happy with this purchase.

Worked great
We recently bought a rug for our dartboard and it wouldn't stay straight and would bunch up. We tried some Velcro and it was going to be pricey to get enough to hold the whole thing down. This pad works awesome. Rug no longer moves while playing darts.

Barely working for me
I was looking for a solution to stabilize a stair mat on top of my carpeted stair. I was actually happy and relieved to find this product. I thought this would solve my problem. The pack came with a very large sheet 2' x 8' with both sides kind of sticky. I cut it to the size of my mat and followed instruction to "adhere" to the back of my mat, and then I lined the mat along to the carpeted stairs. At first it seemed to work because instead of sliding freely, my mat now is gripped to the carpet. But after a day or two running up and down the stairs, the mats started to shift. I redid and relined them. And again, after few days, they were everywhere but where I wanted them to be. Sadly the pad did not adhere to my mat nor my carpet. I am not sure if it's because I have high pile carpet, or because I used it on stairs (high traffic area). Sorry to say this does not work for me. Very disappointed.
