Cat can tolerate this
My cat hates getting brushed. She just runs away. This resulted in her acquiring some matts in her fur. She is not long haired, but her fur is extremely thick. I bought this as a last ditch attempt to address the matts before they got totally out of hand. I thought I was going to have to go down the costly and stressful route of either getting her sedated at the vet or paying a professional groomer. However, the Furminator came to the rescue! It's quite heavy to hold, but in a good way. The weight allows you to follow through with the strokes without putting any weight on to your pet. Initially I managed to stroke my cat a good few times and she was ok with it. She started to tolerate it, which allowed me to get rid of the matts very thoroughly and quickly. I can now use it (although not too often, lol) to keep things in check. She needs to sniff it first thoroughly and still doesn't like it that much. She growls at it and turns to swipe it if I use it for too long, but at least I am to get a few regular strokes in on a regular basis, so it works for us.

Amazing
So wmy cat has short but thick fur She's been a bit stressed staying at my mums lately due to a house move and we noticed some matted parts of her fur lots of dandruff and her coat was generally in a terrible state (don't judge me) Got the de matting tool and the de shedding tools and my back up plan was a trip to the vet My cat does like to be stroked and brushed thankfully but I was expecting this to be a slow process over days Honestly using both tools gently and 20 min later she's like a new woman! Coat looks stunning - still some dandruff! A bag full of old hair and mats and I couldn't be happier! She even looks perkier and more herself! Delighted over here and will be using the shedding tool once a week or every other week to keep on top of it. Good to have the de matting tool on standby just incase!

Pleased cat
My elderly cat’s fur began to get more and more matted despite regular brushing, so I bought the dematter. It isn’t an instant solution, but she really likes it, and with regular use I have cleared 95% of the clumpy bits in her coat. Every morning she hangs around next to the cupboard where the furminator is kept, meowing until I brush her.

Very Impressed
Arrived today and used on my cockapoo this evening. She is not a fan of the brush but she was brilliant while I used this on her. As you can see from the photo it has done a brilliant job.

useless
used furminator de-shedding tools for many years and very pleased with them, But this overpriced turd of a product is useless, the adjustable length for different coats is a great idea if only the teeth actually grabbed anything, I have switched back to a horizontal oriented one that I bought from the local pet shop for a third of the price

It's surprising how much more hair comes off.
Saves a lot of hovering up.

Not gentle
I was expecting great things as a friend had recommended. I usually cut little matts out of my babies fur but a friend said this would be better. It doesn’t cut through the matts ut just drags them and I imagine it is very uncomfortable, I would not recommend and probably won’t use again

Not sharp enough to not cause pain
This drags and pulls the hair rather than cutting the clumps out of our rescue foster dog. Sadly not fit for purpose, expensive and causes pain.

This is really an excellent device. I had my doubts at first, being sceptical of most advertising, but this dematting tool really does the job gently and effectively. Very easy to use and instructions are provided. My cat loves being brushed and had only two or three very small mats in his fur that were easily dealt with and I can see that it would do a good job on more serious mats too, although it might take a little longer. I thoroughly recommend this addition to your cat's (or dog's) grooming equipment.

Fits in my hand easily with a comfortable grip. Grabs a lot of undercoat in a short amount of time. In just a minute or less, on my pom I had a Cottonball size ball of fur from him. This was recommended to me by our groomer because my 11 year old pomeranian has a very dense coat. (Literally feels like he's wearing a polar fleece hoodie) He's groomed approx every 8 weeks and they use this on him EVERY time! It's important to know that you need to detangle your pet FIRST!! Be sure you're not using it over matted areas. Comb those out first Use a favorite regular dog brush before using this. The Furminator only needs quick strokes in the direction the fur grows. This is NOT for long stroke brushing. It grabs an insane amount of undercoat which is just hanging in there anyways. Your dog will be uncomfortable if you take to long of strokes with this as it will pull. Otherwise it's very good at getting the job done. Can be used on short hair dogs too. Has an adjustable height option but be VERY careful. Your dog will hate you if you use this too far down into their coat and cut or scratch them with it. I do not recommend this being used by kids under age 15 unless you're sure your kids are very well informed on how to use it. Definitely not for kids under 10. This reaches deeper than any other tool I've ever used and works wonders on my pomeranian. If you've got a pomeranian, golden retriever, husky, malamute, chow or any dog with a similar coat thickness or fluff level, this will help greatly between grooming. I highly recommend Furminator predicts but especially this.
