One Hot Mess...
1 Star... I will preface this review by saying that I am a fan of RL Matthewson... The "Neighbor From Hell" series is one of my favorites, but this book was a disaster... First and foremost was the lack of editing which interrupts the reading process and my ability to enjoy the story... When each page is filled with multiple grammatical errors, the book just comes across as sloppy... In my opinion, it is the responsibility of the author to make sure their final product is as near perfection as they can make it; have respect for your readers and take the necessary time to edit the material in order for your readers to have an enjoyable experience... Aside from the editing, the story was pure chaos... Character development seemed inconsistent, the storyline felt non-existent, and the presence of some bizarre moments (Like a vampire fantasizing about the blood on a menstrual pad) were very off putting... Sadly, disappointed is the only feeling I can take away from this read and it is safe to say that I will not continue with this series.:(

Great story - but a complete mess otherwise
The story itself is worth two stars... but everything else was atrocious. So many missing words, typos, punctuation errors etc. I can overlook mistakes here and there, but there is no way any editing was done to this book. It was awful. The last two things that annoyed me (and this might just be a 'me' thing) was that in the middle of a paragraph it changes to a different person's perspective. One minute I was in Madison's head and the next I was Ephraim or some other character. It completely takes me out of the moment. And finally, it was too long. I skimmed the last 15% or so. I will not be reading the rest of the series. I see editing doesn't get any better so it's just not worth it. If the author expects readers to pay for their work, then said author needs to be willing to put in the time and effort to make it readable.

Always a good story with R. L. Mathewson
I always enjoy stories by R. L. Mathewson. The storyline is cohesive, the characters are always likable, and she writes great banter. This one is no exception. This is the first PNR that I’ve ever read from Mathewson, and it was fantastic. The banter and dialogue alone make it worth reading. The characters are just so likable and funny, but with legit heat and some seriously steamy scenes. It’s the perfect smexy escape read. But, buyer beware: if you are the type of person that cannot read a story with grammatical error’s, and typos, this might not be the book for you. It’s riddled with typos, mistakes, and grammatical errors, but for some reason it doesn’t bother me too much. I guess it’s because I know going in that finding several errors is a high probability. Who knows? Still, I definitely recommend this for a fun, easy, and smexy good time.

Editor?
I love RL Mathewson books. The neighbors from hell series is one of my favorites. This story was good and I liked the characters but for the love of Pete, did anyone read this book before publishing? The typos were horrible, numerous and down right distracting. It became so annoying that I was losing my love for the story. It's a story of a vampire falling for a human. It's a good story and I really liked it but whoever was paid to edit this book, should refund the money.

Ephraim & Madison
This is the first full length fantasy romance book in the Pyte/Sentinel series by R.L.Mathewson. It is adult themed with plenty of cussing, action/violence, and steamy scenes. There is no cheating, no cliffhangers (concerning the main couple), and always an HEA. This is a Pyte story which is a cool and different take on a vampire. It’s kind of a super vampire with none of the negative side effects. It’s well written with lots of drama, flirting, and an interesting introduction to this series. There are a lot of good side characters in this book as well that I look forward to getting their own stories. I was NOT paid for this honest review.Ephraim is a detective, a bachelor, and very private. He lives in a boardinghouse and rents two rooms to keep his bathroom to himself. His peace and privacy are destroyed when the boardinghouse owner’s family comes to live at the boardinghouse. The granddaughter thats moves into the room connected to his by a bathroom provides a temptation that Ephraim needs all his willpower to resist. Madison is tired she has been a mother to her siblings for so long she can’t remember a time that their mother did anything responsible. She wants to make sure her grandmother knows she and her siblings will not be a burden, but her grandmother is a breath of fresh air and plans to law down the law to Madison’s terrible mother. Now all Madison needs to do is work on her career and stop drooling over her neighbor in the next room. This book is a great first for the series. The side characters are good although the mom is a little over the top but it adds drama and if you are an R.L.Mathewson fan than you expect drama. This is one of the better books in the series. I really like Ephraim and Madison and they make a great couple. Chris is a sweetheart and I am glad he gets a family and his own book in the future. This book was worth the price and the read. Enjoy!

Imaginative paranormal story
This is a good paranormal story that has some good characters and a lot of imagination.Pytes are immortal beings who live on blood except while pregnant and then they can eat food. They are the product of a vampire and a human but are extremely rare. A pyte can only turn one being and then their blood is not strong enough, but the can turn vampires into very strong vampires and for this reason they need protection. Pytes are weak and small until they change at about 16 yrs old.Sentinels are half angel / human every 10 years on 25 th November 10 sentinels are born 5 male and 5 female. A soul mate each. They have four and a half month pregnancies and a red ring behind the ear indicates pregnancy. They were put on earth by god to protect humans. They are stronger and faster than a human and live to be about 200 yrs old, never ageing.

Ok
So, I actually read this when it first came out but hadn't reviewed it. I've just done a reread and I can honestly only say it's ok. There's a few typos and errors that need fixing but that didn't bother me so much. It is the writing style that needs editing, especially the first chapter. It feels disjointed and doesn't make it an easy read at all. The plot is ok but again, it needs looking at. I especially didn't like the scene where the MFC wakes him up after she is already having sex with him but I have a huge issue with consent...I will reread the others though to see if the writing improves.

This must be one of the worst edited books I have ever read
This must be one of the worst edited books I have ever read, it has so many errors both spelling and grammatical, with repeats of words, then then, the the, and sentences with the words all mixed up. It is also very amateurish as though a child or young teenager were writing their first book, (although having said that I am certain a child wouldn't deign to put their name to this rubbish.) It is clear this author self-publishes because no self-respecting publisher would accept this drivel, at least I hope not. I can only assume that the reviewers who gave this four and five (or even three) stars have either read very few books in their lives therefore cannot recognise a bad one when they see it, are easily pleased or do not have the brains to distinguish between a good and awful novel. If I were this author I would fire my proof reader if indeed she has even bothered to employ one.

How is this the same author?
I came to this book having read the hilarious Neighbor from Hell series, and...I can't recognise it as the same author. This book is awful. Really awful. The plot & characters are totally inconsistent and not properly thought out, but the thing that annoyed me most of all was the completely inaccurate portrayal of the heroine's physical virginity. Glaring biological errors about where the hymen is located & how it works like this have no place in modern fiction. Frankly, it made me furious!Genuinely did not recognise the writing from the author's other series. This reads like it was written by a teenager.

Awful. Awful. Awful
If this is NY Times "best selling author" material, I just lost all respect. The poor writing was a top off, the horrendous grammar a teeth grinder. The tropes and "types" however... I meN, this was just appalling. So many little holes in the plot, it may as well have been a grave.I saw good reviews and the bit about being the best selling author. I would have been kinder had I seem neither. I saw a new series, and had hopes. Honestly, given the title and cover it was a hint, let's be honest. However, that little adage about covers and books came back to bite me.Cannot stomach another page. Hope to get a refund.
