This is a hard to find item. Homedepot carries Brass craft, but the shorter one. So far no problems, had it for over a month.

Works fine now.
I finally finished installing the SLD1150 valve in our 1955 shower. I had the same problems. My solution was to notch another ring in the valve using a hack saw, Dremel and a Dremel bit in a drill. The valves are notched wrong for 1955 pipes. Each valve has two notches or grooves on them. Neither are in the right place for 1955. In one of the grooves there is a brass c ring. This ring STOPS the valve from going into the pipe at just the correct spot so the valve will open and close correctly on the other end. After re notching the valve at 3 3/16th inches from the washer end of the valve, the brass c ring was moved to the new groove(not easy). The SLD1152 AND 1150 have grooves at 2 5/16ths and 4 1/16th from the washer end of the valve. That difference was causing the problem. As is, the valve would either not seat at the 2 5/16th or would be fully closed and wouldn't open at the 4 1/16th groove. So basically the valve needed a new groove in the right place. Works fine now.
