The Anointing: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
**S
Needed in today's Church.
It's time to recognize that God does not overlook our sin. Too many pastors and preachers have operated as if the Lord's anointing is not necessary. I found myself riveted as I did much self examination throughout the book. It's caused repentance in my own heart and a fervor to want more of God. I'm so thankful for the grace of Jesus. I pray the Spirit speaks to others as He has me.

I would recommend this book to every Christian
R. T. Kendall’s book, “The Anointing: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, is a well written practical guide for everyone who calls themselves a believer in Jesus Christ. Kendall guides the reader through a juxtaposition narrative from the lives of King Saul, Samuel and King David during their respective era of leadership over the kingdom of Israel. In the book, he describes how the use of the anointing of God, the power of the Holy Spirit (Kindle location 269), determined how each man either became “yesterday’s man”, “today’s man” and “tomorrow’s man” respectively. From the life lessons of the biblical account for each, R. T. Kendall shows today’s Christian how to avoid the pitfalls of being yesterday’s man or woman of God, stuck there by relying on yesterday’s anointing (Chapters 4 - 6). He then navigates the Christian on how to become today and tomorrow’s man or woman of God by utilizing today and tomorrow’s anointing (Chapters 7 - 15).R. T. then describes the “silent divorce” of the Word and the Spirit within Christian churches (Kindle locations 2444, 2859). He states that the Body of Christ is made up of two groups of believers: one group who is more open to the Word of God while the other group is more open to the Spirit of God. In his comparison of each group, he points out that it is rare for Christians to be balanced with both the Word and Spirit (Chapter 15). Nevertheless, he states that tomorrow’s anointing will “remarry” the Word to the Spirit in order to bring about effective ministry today.I would recommend this book to every Christian, especially those who are about to embark in five-fold ministry.b. What I liked about the book. One expectation that every reader hopes to gain from a book is to be educated by the author. However, when the author’s words ministers to you, then that is something that exceeds expectation. Part 4 of this book that describes “tomorrow’s anointing” showed me the reasons why I have personally experienced some of the heartaches that early ministry can bring. However, it also encouraged me to stay the course like King David did, in order to walk out the full destiny God has for my life.c. What I did not like about the book. There is nothing that I did not like about this book. Nevertheless, R. T. Kendell, made a statement early in the book that I personally questioned. He stated that “common grace” that is shared among Christians and non-Christians alike is “the anointing” (Kindle location 486). With that being said, I am not sure how “common grace” could be equated with the “power of the Holy Spirit” (Kindle location 269), but I admit that I am not an expert on the subject of either topic. Though the Holy Spirit and His anointing is present throughout the entire Bible and I have personally experienced the anointing of God in and on my life, I find the anointing of the Holy Spirit to be a mystery that can only be grasp in phases with greater degrees of revelation and faith (Eph. 3: 18, 2 Cor. 3: 18).

Essential for everyone who wants to serve the Lord
After a long period of prayer and searching for God's will for my life and having purchased already two other Dr. Kendal's books, it was a pleasure for me to read this book. I got very useful insights from the many personal stories reported as well as started to see clearer how the Holy Spirit is working in all over the world. Many times we expect from the Spirit to work in our lives and in our church as we have been used to, but the truth is that "as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts".From now on, I will let the Spirit "purge myself from these, so to be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work". Because I don't want to be a yesterday man but a tomorrow one.God bless all of us...

Scales fell from my eyes as I begin to see church in a brand new way. Buy this book!!!

Not lukewarm at all a positive review
This was not a quick read. In fact, I had to put the book down frequently after just a few pages to absorb the meaning and content. Nonetheless, R.T. has done a superb job of articulating the faith that I have tried to define for many years. He presents a clear balance between application of the Word and practice of listening to the Spirit. The summary in the final chapter makes reading this book well worth the time investment. He brings together clearly a call to read and live out the Word in faith while listening to the Spirit as in what one of my friends reflects as "post charismatic" christianity. Demonstrating gifts of the Spirit versus bearing fruit in the Spirit is one thought worth pursuing. Walking the talk and reading THE BOOK is what this book is all about. Buy it, read it, post your comments.

Excellent reading
This book is powerful and convicting. Kendall reveals the importance of walking in step with the Holy Spirit and the anointing The Spirit brings. His analogy of the lives of King Saul, Samuel, and King David give clearer reflection of what God is doing and where we are. Two cries emerge from my heart-Lord forgive me for grieving Your Spirit and Father, I want to be in step with the Holy Spirit!

a good study on Anointing
R. T. Explains well his thinking an the anointing past present and future, how it works and how to get it if we lose it. He lovingly brings balance between the Word and the Spirit and call for both to operate in our churches. I would recommend all Christians
