The Eagle Has Flown: Liam Devlin, Book 4

Even better than the original (prequel). Liam Devlin at his cunning best. Faster paced and with less unnecessary minor characters than the original, a great read. Or in this case, a great audio book.

The Eagle (Steiner) is alive and under detention, more like a chicken in the coop. The Devil (Himmler) wants to bring him back and present him as a hero... or does he? He sends the Fox (Liam Devlin) to do the job.The sly old fox puts his plan into action, a plan that is far from smooth sailing as obstacles and hurdles abound.Love Higgins' stories and his writing. Highly recommend it if you like good adventurous yarns.

While the Eagle has landed has a lot of poignant moments, the Eagle has flown is sharp, crisp and un-put-down-able. It is an ideal book to curl up with on a winter evening. The story picks off by saying that Kurt Steiner is alive and has to be rescued form England and he does get rescued. This much is obvious from the cover of the book. But what is not obvious is the beautiful play of characters, emotions and events. The reader is held in the grip of Jack Higgins to such an extent that you sometimes end up supporting the Germans, sometimes the British and in the end realize that you were being played along by a master story teller. That meeting when Kurt Steiner emerges to address the fallschirmjager is something which you almost live with him.

This is a brilliant sequel to The Eagle Has Landed (one favorite all time book), the build up of action, characters new and some being revisited is very entertaining. Once you start, it's hard to put down. Highly recommended.

enjoyed finding out what happened to the various participants but it seemed to lack some thing , still any higgings is as good yarn and highly beleiveable

Jack Higgins is one of my favorite writers

This is the kind of book that you can't put down until you've finished reading it. Then you want to read it again. It's a sequel to "The Eagle has Landed" so read that first.
