Not real Kapton but works for my application to block off some unwanted pin contact on a connector
Real kapton tape is very expensive stuff. It's used on space-craft and in avionics and because of that the original manufacturer can charge very hefty prices (high double digits) per roll. I suppose if I were using it for something that human life or millions of dollars depended on I'd opt for the name brand. That said this worked just fine for my purpose at a fraction of the cost. I used it to insulate the pin 3 connector on an enterprise SATA hard drive from power. The reason for this being I bought some cheap used enterprise hard drives that have a feature (power disable) that when power is supplied on a certain pin tells the drive to disable itself. Useful in certain datacenter environments but with consumer PC power supplies those pins still supply legacy 3v power which unfortunately makes the drive unusable. I could snip the power wire or break off the pins but instead I covered the first 3 pins (none are needed in modern drives though only pin 3 is the problem) with this electrically insulating tape and the drives now spin up and I'm fairly confident I don't have to worry about shorts, fires, or anything of the sort because of the properties of this type of material. Can't speak to high heat resistance or other uses and I've only had it in service for about 5 months. I'll probably replace the tape if I ever have to remove the power connector as Kapton is not guaranteed against mechanical wear and it's not sticky enough I trust it to stay in place after the connector is removed. Then again the lack of stickiness is a good thing because it means no residue. Just editing this to say I have since used this while soldering and I can confirm it protects components from a brief clumsy touch of the iron and its high heat, even at temperatures of 600 degrees F on my Hakko.

Great tape works well
Good tape. Works like it should.

Works well.
I used this to tape down some temperature probes to monitor some computer hardware, so nothing crazy hot. The tape is easy to peel and sticky enough to get the job done, and it's a good size for larger electronics. This isn't strong enough to really hold something down, though.

You need this!
Good deal

It's what everyone needs
What can I say, everyone needs this in order not to damage other components on the circuit board. It's easier to peel off of the roll, easy to apply and remove from the circuit board, durable and holds up to hot air temps, doesn't leave residue on the circuit board, definitely worth the money. Also, I just love that clear bronze color. I used to work at as a bench technician, but now I just repair small things at home when need be. This tape is super nostalgic lol.

Good tape, but I wish it stuck more
It's good tape and it feels like it works well once you get it to stick to itself. It's not so great at sticking to insulated wire (a printer heater cartridge and thermistor wire) but I wrapped it around. It does well for it's application and for that I am satisfied. Oh, it stinks by the way and probably best to first open the package in a well ventilated area.

Buy It
Worked great, smelt funny out the bag but left to Residue and kept up to the heat. The stick was fine, came off fine over all great.

Worked perfectly for what I needed it for (heat transfer)! Used it under 400°F heat, didn’t melt or budge. This roll is very big, so you get a great value for your money!
