Great Smartwatch with interesting "Always on Display" technology
This is the second smartwatch I've ever owned, the first one being a cheap $40~ chinese smartwatch I got on eBay in 2015, and suffice it to say, it did not last very long. Then came 2016 and I started looking for a substitute, something that can last longer, have better features, and have a nice look, then I stumbled upon the Sony Smartwatch 2. The first thing that got my attention is the price, fluctuating around $90 in comparison with other popular smartwatches of the time, like the Samsung Gear. Then I started doing some research on it, and one thing got all my attention, this watch has a "transflective" LCD display, this is basically a normal display, but when the display "times out" or you turn off the screen, is like an "Always on Display" that current Samsung phones have, but instead of using light to display something, this display uses the ambient light as light source, so it wastes less battery. This obviously means that you can only see the display in a bright to dim environment, in darkness, you have to actually turn on the display to see it (see attached pictures). This was the feature that made me buy it. One thing though, the battery only last a day, so be prepared to charge it alongside with your phone.

Nice smartwatch from Sony here.
Nice smartwatch from Sony here. Not expensive for what it is. Pair nicely with my Xperia smartphone. Some improvement definitely for future V3 will be very welcome, such as more performance and screen quality. For now, is on the right path.

Not water anything.
The watch is NOT water resistant(forget about water proof). I took it for a short swim in a pool and it gave out in a min. Had the pebble smart watch for a year, did diving with it and never had a problem. Very disappointing coming from Sony.

It's a very beautiful piece and is quite satisfying to look at and ...
I've actually owned the standard black version of this watch for about a year but decided to get the steel/ silver one too because it looks classy/ elegant. Due to its metal construction, It feels heavier than the black one, which has plastic housing and a band made of rubber. It's a very beautiful piece and is quite satisfying to look at and wear. As for its functionality, users can view and respond to text messages on the device, initiate phone calls on their phone from the device, scroll through and initiate the playback of tracks from their music library on their phone from the device, view graphically simplified tweets, and much more. The interface is minimalistic, but that's understandable considering that this is - at the time that I am writing this review - an outdated model of Sony's series of smart watches. I think that its cheaper price and its elegant metallic housing and band make it worth a purchase relative to the newer model if one doesn't need the latest and greatest and is merely looking for a respectable smart watch that looks classy.

Fixed .3 25 11 error,beautiful watch
So, I had a pretty crazy experience.. I got the watch today at around 11am, and when I tried powering it on the power was dead. After putting it to charge for more than two hours I tried again and got a .3 25 11 error on the top right of the screen. After Messing with the watch for around four hours I was finally able to get it to power up. I read online I recieve a bricked watch and needed to return it. I thought I'd try everything I could since I had already spent the extra cash on next day shipping.so I turned it on, got the screen and left the power button pressed for 15sec. After that I started to get a Sony screen with the same numbers. So I started to do the same thing but at the same time removing the charger, I had it connected. So at one point the watch went completely black and would not power on. Eventually I got passed the Sony screen and was greeted with s battery that also gave me a percentage. But ironically it would not charge...it still showed 0 so after a few more hours I was able to get it to charge. Once it got to 50% I tried turning it on and it kept tree booting with the same .3 25 11 error. So after another hour or so I was able to get it to boot past the error and was greeted by a screen that showed the watch connecting to a phone. So I immediately got my Sony Xperia Z5 I just got and used the NFC feature to connect it. Immediately my phone connected, the watch said smart connect successful, and started to vibrate then turned off, then started some type of hardware reboot and gave me a status bar.then it finished rebooted vibrated some more and another status bar. once complete, it vibrated again then reboot then like a flawless device gave me clear Sony screen with no numbers, vibrated once, then showed me the time. I can't believe I was actually able to get this watch to connect. What's weird was that I had to keep the power button pressed throughout the whole connection process or the watch would turn off, also if I would touch the home, back, or menu buttons on the watch while it was charging it would freeze up and I had to re boot the watch.it's crazy but whatever the issue war in guessing the firmware must have been corrupt because when I tried the update it told me it was already updated to the latest firmware. So far I've been using the watch all day and it works perfect. I'm guessing they got all the bugs out of the apps as well, I haven't had a problem downloading or installing any apps so far. And they all work flawlessly.I'm really impressed with the watch aside from the whole it being bricked and all. Still I'll give it 5stars because it's a kill at $110, and is really nice, elegant, and it doesn't lag or freeze up. Also the battery has lasted me a while for the use I've been putting it through. UPDATE:11/19/2015 Watch died on full battery, had to return the watch. Very disappointed, it was really nice.

Returned.
Okay, first, I was not even able to pair it with my Galaxy Note Edge. But the watch appearance is almost perfect, to me. Unfortunately its designers have probably forgotten that we are living in 21th century, and those amazingly inexpensive high-resolution AM/OLED displays are already invented (of course the inventory "photos" show almost UHD resolution). And more: the wristband adjustment is not easy at all, you have to be a Superman to push those metal links' pins out in order to remove them. Also I was not very happy the watch has no any charging dock, but just having a micro-USB socket with a very flimsy plug cover.

Spielen.

This is a great product. I got it in stainless steel and it looks really nice. As I hoped, it has a quality feel to it, not some plastic geeky watch and not something that people won't laugh at you for. The screen is not high definition by any means. Considering the nature of the product (you aren't exactly going to watch films or play games on it) I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of it. I have had very few problems with the connection dropping out and actually, now I come to think about it, no problems at all in general. The touchscreen however could be a little more sensitive. you may find yourself having to swipe a second time to successfully scroll through the app screen. You can customise your background and watch faces from the app on the phone. You can download widgets and watch faces to use on your watch. For example, my current watch face has the time in blue and white, the full date, the remaining battery, the weather, the amount of notifications on my phone and the bluetooth connection status. I love this aspect of the product. When the manufacturers of a product state the battery life, the usually overestimate it and it is always less. Sony claim that the battery can last up to 4 days. I find that it can last up to 6 days on one charge connected to my phone 16 hours a day. This is a huge pro for me. I am seventeen and this is what I find useful about this watch: - It tells the time. Obviously. You can glance at the time whenever you like because it will ALWAYS display on the screen. So it works just as well as an ordinary watch (which often costs a lot more than this product). - You view all of your texts, What'sApp, Facebook and more from the watch. When someone messages you, it will appear on the watch face. You can change this so that it only displays the name or you can make it not do this at all. I have it set with just the name appearing. You tap on the name and then you can read the text. You can reply to texts on this with custom preset messages (one of my commonly used ones is ("I am in a lesson at the moment"). This can be quite handy. You can't type a reply on this. Not that you would want to on that small screen anyway. - You can hang up incoming calls from the watch. This is useful for when I am in a lesson in college and instead of my phone buzzing away until I awkwardly get it out, I just simply tap the reject button on the watch and can then send a preset message saying that I am busy. I also downloaded an app called "Commander" which means I can put my phone on silent in times where I can't get my phone out. It also can toggle other things on your phone such as mobile data, Wi-Fi, airplane mode etc. - You know when you are walking somewhere and playing music through your earphones connected to your phone? It's pretty difficult sometimes getting your phone out your pocket whilst walking to change the volume or the song. This is especially difficult when your phone is practically double the size of your pocket which is common with smartphones these days (I have a Sony Xperia Z1). If you buy this, you can do this from your watch without touching your phone for the entire journey. Perfect. I downloaded an app called "Smartmote" as this has support for Soundcloud and also controls other players such as Walkman or whatever your pre-installed player is on your phone. - I use the games very rarely as they are pretty limited and laggy. The games will run on the phone and your watch will act as a sort of screen for it. This causes a delay between your input and the games response. However, when you are bored as hell and you are in an environment where you can't get your phone out (a long dinner or a lesson that just seems to drag on), this can be used. But, this doesn't happen too often so it is rarely used for "gaming" if I can call it that. If you are buying this device to play games on, please do not bother. However, if you just want to try a couple, I recommend "Snake", "Tap Low", "TicTacToe" and "2048 - The Game" (listed in ascending order of preference). They aren't much to get excited about but they are the best ones I have come across. Other all, this is a very satisfactory product and I would recommend it if the uses above sound worth your £100 or so. I was going to buy a new watch around this budget anyway so this was very worthwhile. Some other apps worth looking at (not mentioned above): - "Watchify": This is the best app I found for viewing notifications such as What'sApp and Facebook from your watch. You can customise what apps will push notifications to your phone (so that people looking over your shoulder aren't informed about your archer tower being upgraded on Clash of Clans). - "Nixie clock widgets": Some more unusual but nice looking watch faces, I personally like them. - "MotoHolo Watchface": A couple of digital watch faces which are basic but with a tiny bit more colour in them than the boring pre-installed ones. All of the apps mentioned were free of charge.
