The answer by Mark D. is misleading. Bisto, mixed with BOILING water does thicken. However, a teaspoon won't thicken much of anything. Yes, you just add BOILING water, and stir- it thickens immediately. How much it thickens depends on how much you use. I don't measure, I just shake some in the 2 cup measuring cup, then add the boiling water and stir. If it's too thin, add some more Bisto, too thick, add some more water. I find a jar lasts pretty well, we don't pour gravy over everything, lol! I married a Brit, and I love many of the culinary grocery adventures I've had. Bisto in it's many flavors is a real boon in the kitchen.
