We purchased this backpack in black for one of our 7-year-old twins going into second grade. We got the small size because she is petite. The backpack is sturdy and high quality, especially for the price. There are three pockets, and the small size DOES NOT include the tiny front pocket as pictured, but she won't need it (the large size does have the small front pocket). It holds quite a bit. I fit a 1.5" binder, large workbook, thin spiral-bound notebook, and a couple small notebooks in the big pocket, a lunch bag in the middle pocket, and a few thin items in the front pocket. We could probably squeeze a lightweight sweater in, too. Each side mesh pocket will hold a bottle, such as standard bottled water or a Nalgene Grip-N-Gulp.Note: We also ordered a pink and grey/silver from another seller in the large size, so I have included pictures of the large (pink/grey) and small (black) side-by-side for comparison.We've included a picture of our daughter wearing it. She is 45" tall, 40 lbs. Our other twin, who is 46" and 43 lbs, will be wearing the large size but honestly, the large and small are so similar that either size would comfortably work for either girl.

I got this for my 8 year old (3rd grader) for the school year (when they reopen....). I ordered the large because I wanted something big enough for her lunch box, homework folders, and things she brings home daily.It's a great material, feels very durable and compartments are very large. The 3rd pocket also goes straight to the bottom of the bag (it looks like it's a short pocket on front) also, both cup holders on the side are also very deep. Which is great because it fits her large thermos perfectly.Also love the color! Very vibrant and makes her happy.Only con is there is no "organizer" pockets within the compartments but not a deal breaker....because honestly... when are kids ever organized? Haha.

My daughter is 9 and this is my 5th backpack, and will be last one for at least a few years. Awesome backpack!! VERY sturdy and durable. I know I will get at least 3 years out this one. I wish I found this 5 years ago!! My son will be starting K next year, and guess who's getting one.Lots of zippered big pockets. We use one for her books and folders, one for her lunch box, one for her jacket, and the small one for misc little things, like pencils. It has two water bottle holders, one on each side. These holders are strong. I'm not worried about her thermos falling through. It has a top handle and a hook handle. Again, both super strong. If this thing ends up tearing, I will update my review. But as of now, this mama is VERY happy,

Great backpack. My daughter loves it! Great quality for the price. Only thing is that the large is definitely oversized, and probably made for adults or high schoolers/college students. My 8 year old rising 3rd grader is pretty tall for her age and this backpack was huge on her. However, it has a lot of pockets, great design, looks like something that will clean easily and I’m sure it will hold up really well! Just if you have elementary sized kids, get the small or medium.

I love these backpacks. My daughter went through 3 of the cheapo backpacks that come out at the end of the summer, but she used one of these for the next 3 years. It's still in great shape but she asked for another color. The new one is exactly as pictured, same great quality. However, I messed up and ordered the 19L size, not thinking anything of it. While it will still work, it only just fits the vinyl folders she carries each day. Definitely won't work if she has to carry textbooks.

These bags are durable, beautifully colored, and my daughter creamed when she saw it! We will be buying again!

Nice pattern. Lots of pockets. Large side water bottle holder. Thick material. Would give this bookbag a 5; however knocked off one star as the inside seam started separating after a few days of use but I contacted the seller and got an immediate response and she replaced the bookbag in a timely manner. Pleased with overall.

We just received this bookbag. It looks to be made super well. We went to multiple stores looking and nothing in this price range was made this well. The zippers are made well and the material looks like it will hold up well. The straps are padded. We ordered the larger size. It's perfect for about 7 or 8 yrs old and up. It's fairly big. Color is beautiful. Has multiple compartments. Will update if doesn't met our expectations.

Backpack is nice looking and overall it is sturdy..but beware, the zippers are cheap. This backpack was used for 2.5 months by a school age child whom is not rough at all with their things. We have had 2 zippers break in the last week. Not impressed as I expected it to last at least for a whole school year.

Ordered this for my daughter for school. We just got it today so long term use cannot be evaluated yet. The bag seems well made and quite durable. Plenty of space in the various pouches and pockets. The small pocket on the front (included in photos) is a decent size except for the fact that the opening is extremely small and too tight to get your hand into (even my 6 yr old cannot get her hand into it). There is another small pouch on the inside of the bag that I was unaware of prior to purchasing but seems to be a handy little addition (also included in photos). She is extremely happy with the colour of the bag.

I only bought it because my 8 year old liked the color and design but once received and comparing it to Roots Back she already had and bought for almost same amount, there is huge difference in quality.Quality is very poor on this bag, I don't think its going to last long.

I bought this backpack for my daughter who is 9 years old. She Has been using it for school since September and it broke not even for 2 months after ... I have to buy a new one. the zipper on the middle pocket is completely broken and there is a big tear from the inside. the main zipper has broken too but I managed to fix it temporarily ... I am very disappointed of the poor quality of this bag.

Though the size and features were accurately described but the colour was not the same as in the photo. My daughter found the colours to be more brown and dusty blue which made the backpack seem less gender neutral and more "boyish". She didn't like it so I am off to purchase a different backpack. I missed the return window because I didn't realize it was 30 days from the date of the order so I now have a backpack that will not be used. I will be more aware next time. The quality of the bag seems good though we did not use it so I can not say how it would have held up over time.
