Perfect for my project, might need work for yours
I am assembling a project that the designer incorporated 1/2" black pipe and 3D printed parts. These were the pipes that were on the parts list, but I only needed three, not ten so I got them from Home Depot. I found that the sockets in the 3D printed parts were too small for the pipes I purchased. After going through multiple rounds of modification, printing, modification, printing again, I decided to order these pipes to see if there was a difference, or if the model was wrong. These pipes fit perfectly. It is because these pipes are NOT "Black Pipe" that you get at home improvement stores. Those are intended to carry natural gas or are sometimes used for fire sprinkler systems. These are steel pipes that are black. Black Pipe is seamless for strength and the threads are cut in a special way. These pipes have an obvious seam and appear to have a standard thread. See the included photos. The description makes no claim that it is this type of Black Pipe and it only discusses furniture or similar type uses. I thought it would be good to mention in case someone wanted to use this and Black Pipe in the same project. The nominal outside diameter of this pipe is 19.75 mm or 0.78 inch. The typical outside diameter of Black Pipe is 21.3 mm or 0.84.The end of the pipe is rough/sharp. Again, not an issue for my project, but if you plan on running electrical wire through it, you will want to get a file and knock the edge off. See the second photo. The pipes I got were not oily, as some reviewers reported. The finish on a few of the pipes was scratched. This can be seen in the photo of the seam in the pipe. I suspect this is a paint that is applied after machining because it is on the threads and the cut end of the pipe. The black finish on Black Pipe is a form of iron oxide. If the finish is a concern, I would recommend you plan on painting the pipes.5 stars from me because it is perfect for my project. The seam, surface finish, and cut ends are not a concern for my application. It is also 45% of the cost of the pipe at HD. I plan on making two copies, so I'll need 6 pipes. Even though I'll end up with 4 extra pipes, I'll end up saving money.

Perfect for crafts and DIY
I've done some projects by using the pipe purchased from big box stores. Now that I've discovered the Amazon supply, I will never go back. This stiff is WAY cheaper than what you will get locally. Now, to be fair, the stuff in the stores is meant to be used as designed, for plumbing. Once you break way from that need, the cost to manufacture and produce these items goes WAY down, which equals a much lower price point for the end user. I started with one main project, but since have branched to several different DIY projects and this stuff works great. I used 1" pipe to make a handrail for the stairs, 1" pipe for my gym and hanging weights, 1/2" for shelves and miscellaneous pieces, and have some upcoming plans using 3/4". Its easy to work with and looks awesome when painted (I've been using flat black on most of my projects).

Inconsistent quality
These work but the rods are very inconsistent in quality. The threads always vary in size. Some screw in smoothly some are difficult.Length and diameter also vary. Difficult when using for projects that are sized to one rod, and the other rod from the same pack doesn’t fit or has to be forced in.As mentioned in previous reviews they are very oily and dirty. You get what you pay for though. The price is the cheapest around. This product would be perfect if more attention was given to quality control.I’ll continue to support this product until a better manufacturer comes around with the same price point.

Mediocre at best, but do the trick.
I use these pipes in custom 3D printed parts I sell and they're good, but the quality control is awful. Some pipes come nice and shiny black (although they're excessively oily and need to be wiped off), and others very oxidized and rusty (needing cleaning with oil), and others come insanely scratched up (I can't use these, I'm at about a 15-20% loss rate overall). I've purchased about 1000pcs so far and am lucky if 30% are good to sell without a lot of cleaning (although all will need to be wiped down or you'll get oil/rust everywhere), and 1 out of 5 packs have a ton of too scratched to use pipes.

filthy and terrible quality
Terrible quality, i was hoping to pass some cables through these but the openings at the ends are inconsistent, sharp and the pipes are filthy. If you thread these into any type of connector, they don't sit or seal correctly and are 'wonky'.

Works with the 3d magnetic gun stock for quest
The 1/2" x 8" black pipes work great for the Oculus Quest Magnetic gun stock. The only negative I have are they were a little scuffed, with a little rust on the threads, and you will need to wipe them down. They have a chalky resued.

Good, but with burrs
Best price I could find for these. I only needed nine, but it was cheaper to buy this ten pack. They are exactly the right size. Just watch out for the burs on the threaded ends. If you are running any wires through the pipe, you'll need to grind them off so they don't strip away any insulation and cause a short. Fortunately I had a round metal file and was able to remove them, but that took some time.

Extremely cheap
Very, very light weight, I would not call these "pipe", only a little thicker than lightweight electrical tubing. Only had two maybe, three threads cut into each end but the best part of these 8" inch "pipes" is that they were only 7 3/4". Don't waste your money or hassle with a return.
