Almost perfect
This was my first handheld release. Bought this mainly for the hinge function but wanted the option to have a thumb button for hunting. Very impressed with the quality and function. The hinge is super smooth, and the thumb trigger is very crisp. The hinge function definitely improved my groups since I was tending to punch the trigger on my index-style release. The price is a bit high but it's worth it in my opinion due to the quality and that it's basically a 2-in-1.The only complaint I have is that there's no place to attach a strap. Kind of baffling that Tru Ball didn't include that feature. But it's not that big a deal for me, just have to be mindful of it in the field so you don't drop it somewhere.

It truly is the GOAT
I've traditionally shot wrist/trigger releases but wanted to cross over to either a thumb release or hinge. For the price you get the best of both worlds. I am 6'2" so the large was the choice and it fits so comfortable in my hands. The complete adjustabilty of any high end release is available for both thumb and hinge giving a full range up to super hot. I've only had it for a short time but the quality of construction doesn't leave me any doubts. TRU Ball delivers again with another great release. If you can't decide on which route to go, this will provide you both ends of the spectrum for a fair price if you ask me. Most high end releases go for 200 each avg. Thats 400 for 2 or get 2for1 here with The Goat. I'd recommend to to any friend or family member....and already have!

Very poor adjustments for hinge or thumb settings
Set this release to hinge initially and discovered it to be very hot with the click. You basically have to turn your whole wrist inwards towards your thumb or the release will click during your draw cycle. This made it feel very unnatural and uncomfortable while drawing. There was no way to adjust the click to be colder. The fire adjustment was okay, but when I set the hinge to no click, there was a major risk of premature firing while drawing, because of the first issue mentioned above. The thumb button was also not in a fixed position and would rotate to a weird, inconsistent position making for inconsistent firing in either the hinge or thumb setting. I had to add a couple of nylon washers to keep it from rotating on its threaded post. In the thumb button setting, there was absolutely no way to adjust the sensitivity to not go off if you breathed on it. My shots constantly went off prematurely just putting my thumb onto the button as I was rotating my wrist. You could adjust the travel of the thumb button, but it was so floppy (no resistive feedback) to your thumb that it would go off at the end of its travel. I expected some sort of resistance before the shot went off, but it just wasn't there. For a $300 release, I expected a lot more adjustability and functionality. I ended up buying a Scott Ascent Micro hinge release for half the price and it works exactly the way I set it, with repeatable consistency. Couldn't get that with this G.O.A.T. release.

Wow!
Absolutely the most crisp, quick release I have shot. The hinge styled hook releases the d-loop smooth and consistent. All the adjustments for comfort, preference and shooting style easy to use. My first day shooting with it shot a 300 score in an indoor round. It truly is The GOAT!

Screw breaks after just 2 months
After owning this release for 2 months and absolutely loving it I was drawing back and had a weird movement in my hand causing the arrow to release. Turns out a screw that holds the extra finger bracket in place cracked. And there was now a significant amount of wobble in that third finger release.I go to contact TRUball because the broken part of the screw won't come out. They say I have to send it in for repair. Okay fair enough Well I send it in and wait a few weeks only to get an email asking me to pay the cost of labor for the repair and to send payment information.Smh, I would expect that with a release this expensive to at least get quality customer service.
