Works well...
We needed a heater to boost up the warmth in our sitting room on cold evenings. After some research this seemed like a good model and it has proved to work well. It heats up quickly and regulates itself efficiently. There was little to no noticeable smell when first heating from new.The programmer took a little while to figure out - some settings require multiple presses of the control button to get to the correct option. There is a facility to set recurring timed periods through the day. I would have preferred a duration timer, ie, set it to run for 3 or 4 hours after startup and then automatically switch off, but I can't see an option for that. As it is one has to remember to switch off manually if not using the programmer - not a big deal but one would have thought it a simple option to add such a timer option (if anyone has found that option is actually there I'd be keen to know how it is set!).That said, we run it on the eco setting which automatically regulates the temperature to achieve whatever maximum you set on the dial and shows which of the 3 power settings it is using at any given moment. This works well and helps conserve energy. It makes a noticeable difference to our 5m x 4m room with max temp set at 23. Of course it can go higher than this but 23 is comfortable for us.Some people have complained of annoying clicking sounds. I've only noticed some clicking of the casing cooling down after the unit is switched off. It doesn't last long. The casing seems solid and well designed - it's a clean and contemporary design and build quality is good. The lead is on the short side but it is perfectly possible to use an extension lead (the manufacturers advise against it but that's almost certainly a hedge against liability) - just make sure it is a heavy duty one rated to handle higher currents and don't coil it up while the heater is running. We have had no issues with ours and the cable doesn't get warm.

Really good radiator
I bought this as I temporarily have no central heating in my living room. It works really well, and I love the idea of the eco mode, and hope it really does save some electricity! The timer is a bit of a faff but the controls are easy enough once you get used to them. I have had earlier Dragon models and this one is definitely the best.

Great heater. Amazon description misleading.
This review is for the 2Kw version: TRDX40820E.Very nice heater and while the timer function is a bit fiddly, it is ok. (There are some good YouTube videos on how to use it).I have had a Delonghi Rapido oil filled radiator for probably nearly 14 years and it is still working fine. That has heating power up to 3 Kw with its instant heat function (500 watt convector instant heat, 1000 watt oil radiator and 1500 watt oil radiator and any combination of the 3 settings), so I know these heaters are (or were) very high quality. I never used the full 3 Kw power though as I have never needed to and it is very near the limit for UK circuits. I wanted a new one mainly for the safety features and hoping it would be more economical with the Eco function. The amazon advert is misleading for the TRDX40820E as it says this can be used for rooms up to 75 cubic metres, but it says that for the 2.5Kw version as well. Delving further, it says on the Delonghi site that this can be used for rooms up to 60 cubic metres. My room is 48.4 cubic Metres (6.11 x 3.43 x 2.31), so it should have been ok. I think if I had been buying again, I would by the 2.5Kw version, just for that extra headroom.Trying to keep my living room at 20 deg c, I need to set the temperature to 25 deg C, but it warms up quickly. (Outside temperature 3 deg C, room start temperature at 14 deg C). It takes about 1.5 hours to stabilise in my room which isn’t particularly well insulated and has large NE facing windows.I am not sure of the Eco function yet as can’t really see the difference in its operation: If you set it at a particular temperature, then surely that is what you want to keep it at? When set to Eco, the temperature drops a couple of degrees, but I am experimenting further. The power levels are interesting though: Level 1 is approx. 920 watts, Level 2 is 1100 watts and level 3 is 2000 watts, (depending on voltage fluctuations of course) so not linear and strange values I would have thought as the difference between level 1 and 2 is only 200 watts. This unit is quite small, very well constructed and looks nice in the room. I would say it is just about enough power for my approx. 48 cubic metre room, so if your room is bigger, I would definitely get the higher power version. One thing I was surprised about is that this version was made in China, my other one was made in Italy and I just assumed this one would be as well. That does not mean that it is of lower quality as a lot of products from China these days are very high quality and sometimes only assembled in China, the parts coming from other countries. Only time will tell on its longevity but at the moment I would recommend it. It does appear to be more economical though at the moment, but we haven't had any real long cold weather spells yet, (Jan 2022) and I have only had it a month. Between this and the Veito infra-red heater I have, I can tailor the type of heat for the room. E.g., if I am on my own working and don’t require the whole room to be warm I use the Veito, but for whole room warmth when other people are here, then I use this.

Fantastic heater
I bought after much research and it really does not disapoint, build quality is superb and it is really good at what it does for 3.5 hours on and over a degree and a half rise in temp in a rather big space costing just £1.72 as of march 25 electric prices i think that is outstanding i bought as i live in a dorma semi from the 60's and for some reason they never put a radiator in the living room and as of which i just needed a added heat source that was cost effective and also works well for my needs after alot of trail and error i feel this is the ticket a 10 year warranty is nothing to laugh at also and show delongi stand by its products to last, i got in a sale at £125 but it is worth full price and do recommend to anyone look for something like i was to help warm up a large space that central heating just doesnt quite cut it
