Zero chic, lots of shabby
Blimey another bandwagon someone has jumped on! Just because shabby chic is a trend, doesn't give you carte blanche to leave something so rough, so unfinished and badly put together it gave me a splinter immediately. The exposed wood isn't varnished or waxed, it's just plain bare deal, so if it gets wet it will swell and warp, rendering the tray useless. The tongue and groove looks nice but the corners of the tray are badly glued together and I needed to reinforce them.Frankly, I just won't use this at all until I've finished it off - a lick of paint to improve the dull white, maybe a bit of transfer to brighten it up a bit, then a coat of clear wax or matte varnish to ensure it's hardwearing and waterproof. So, in my book, this is no better than a tray picked up at a charity shop to upcycle. As this is currently unavailable, I have no idea of the price - I would sincerely hope no more than a tenner at the utmost and I still wouldn't consider that good value.

Very rough and ready
This is more rough and ready than shabby chic and, in the absence of cost it is difficult to know whether it offers value for money. The tray is reasonably well made with tongue and groove corner joints and two handles, but note that the latter are roughly made and you may need to lightly sand to remove splinters. The wood has been coated in a paint wash and sanded back in places to create a careworn appearance, but it isn’t particularly well done in my opinion, at least not in the sample I received.Note that this isn’t a tray to take dinner plates to the table as it is too small, but you could take two side plates or a teapot, two mugs and a milk jug to a table, possibly outside for afternoon tea. But if you want plates as well as tea, two trips will be needed.

More of a decorative piece
To me, this tray looks very rustic and it reminds me of a farmhouse or beach house style of decoration. Because of its fit and finish, I would say that it is more of a decorative rather than a functional piece of furniture. I have not experienced any splinters around handles, only at the bottom of the tray, but still, I would expect a better job at sanding. The paint is rubbed off at places to give it shabby chic style, however, a single coat of varnish would go a long way to protect the tray from moisture or water damage as well as to prevent it splintering.Overall, I like the design of the tray as it is very cute, but I wouldn't use it for carrying anything but instead as a piece of furniture.

Nice tray but....
Tray is really nice, very sturdy, light, feels comfortable in hand and has a great size- not too big, not too small. The only thing is that once get dirty (let’s say you will drop a piece of something oily on it, or drop of your coffee) the stain will remain, even if you try to wipe it straight away. Conclusion: gets damaged pretty fast.I love the design of the tray, is well made, classy, wooden.Price wise not sure as it doesn’t display that information.Lovely serving tray if you want it as vintage decoration, but if you are planning to use it often to serve a meal on it, keep in mind that pretty fast might look not as good with stains on it.

Sloppy paintwork pretending to be Shabby Chic
Oh, I am sorry this is not going to be a glowing review….quite the opposite, as the way I feel with this one is that the term Shabby Chic is used to disguise “ we could not be bothered to paint this and age it with extensive rubbing as it normally happens, so we just used a coat of primer and…left it!”..seriously! It is just a box tray, with handles, average in size and quality, with literally one coat of primer paint that comes off as soon as it is exposed to any moisture whatsoever… To me it is not Shabby chic, it is sloppy paintwork. Not impressed, as my daughter spilt a little bit of tea and it literally ruined the tray…stained it to smithereens, so….Nah! Not recommended!
