Updated -- Well Built 1 lb. Heavy Jump Rope - Can add weights in handles -- Kickass Workouts!!!!
UPDATED REVIEW -- Wow! After using the Gaoykai weighted rope for more than a week, I can attest to the killer workout that this rope provides. As I mentioned in my original review below, the metal handles are hollow, and I was able to transfer the cylinder weights from my old rope into the handles of this one. The total weight is now just under 2 lbs. Now when I jump this rope for 15-20 minutes of jumping time, I am drenched! Previously with my 1 lb weighted-handle rope, I would feel the workout but I would not sweat. Now it's a whole new experience. After my 1 1/2 total workout time, I feel like I've been through a wringer of sorts. My body feels light and relaxed. Highly recommend this kind of rope for a TOTAL workout. My old weighted jump rope was nearing its end as the rope was literally worn out. However, my old rope had weights in the handles for a total of about 1 lb. I wanted to try a rope where the ROPE was also weighted, and I wanted to increase the overall weight to 2 lbs. This rope from Gaoykai fit the bill. I got the red rope which is nice and thick. The handles are metallic and hollow, and my only gripe was with the rubber grip that only covers a portion of the handle. It also felt uncomfortable. I simply rolled off the rubber grip and reversed it inside out and then put it back on more towards the top of the handles. That feels better to me. My old rope had foam handles which were very comfortable. The good thing about this rope is that the construction is pretty solid and attractive. You can uncap the handles on both ends. I was able to remove the weighed cylinders from my old rope, put some tape around them and then insert into the Gaoykai handles. I put the tape so that the cylinders wouldn't bounce around. With the rope's weight of around 1 lb. and the weights I have inserted in the handles, the total weight is not just under 2 lbs. BUT IT IS HEAVY! Going up from 1 lb. to 2 lbs. is no walk in the park. I usually jump for 15 minutes non-stop and now with this beast of a rope, I had to take a few stops until I build more resistance. Good value for the money, compared to some expensive options on Amazon.

Great jump rope
I just got it today so I have only used it for a few hundred jumps but since I am experienced in rope jumps, it's safe to leave a comment now. I generally do a few thousand jumps a day. The weight is in the rope, which is nice because it adds a bit of extra work as opposed to the ones that have the weight in the handle. It doesn't get tangled since it's so thick and heavy. I chose this one with aluminum handles over the ones with plastic handles. I feel the weight of the rope might be too tough on the plastic handles. Some have complained about the relatively small silicone grips on the handles, I can see that a big silicone grips will be more useful. I have not used it so much that sweat will become a problem, but I will update my comment later if I notice anything. Hopefully, this will help me tone my arms and back.

Very durable and versatile rope, has lasted me for quite a while.
I jump on rather unforgiving concrete at high intensity and this rope has withstood with only a few scratch marks to show for. Whereas other ropes I’ve used previous, including a weighted rope would get chewed through, and the handles would snap completely off the wire. I’ve has this rope for 5-6 months now training on and off, and I have had little to no issues. It’s the perfect bridge rope if you’re looking to move off speed ropes. Perfect for interval training spurts as well where you can max load. I’ve been able to perform every trick I would do on speed ropes, which I could not do on the other 1 lb weighted rope I had. I credit that to the ball-bearing system which keeps the spins and rotations perfectly align, with no winding. My only issue I’ve run into is the grip coming loose, and riding up the handle some, forcing me to adjust my grip, but it’s not a dealbreaker. Only wish it ran a bit longer is all. I’ve also noticed my grip strength has gotten a lot better as well, where at first my hands would tire out very quick as the rotations would add up quick, I am able to extend much longer now. I have been very pleased, you definitely get bang for your buck here.

Great rope for the price
I bought this rope almost three years ago and use it regularly. It has held up well and is just now wearing out to the point I need to replace it, which is what brought me back to this page. I like the weight as it adds to the upper body portion of the workout and makes the rope easier to jump for beginners. The ball bearings get stiff every once in a while and I fix that with a couple of sprays of WD40. The only negative I can think of about this rope is that if it's colder than about 45 degrees F (I use it outside), the rope becomes stiff and difficult to use.Overall a great value.

So versatile, effective! Well worth the price!
I couldn't imagine spending more than a few bucks on a jump rope but my husband convinced me to try a weighted rope. What a difference it makes! This increases my cardiovascular workout intensity dramatically and gives an equal attention to the upper body by creating resistance training for my arms, pects and lats. This allows me to shorten my jumping time which will help save my joints, and shorten my overall workout time which makes me happy.I also love the fact that the length is adjustable within seconds. My husband is 5'10", I'm only 5'1" and our 10 year old is between 4' and 5'. We all use the same rope. The sleeve within collar rings inside the handles allow for easy length adjustment, just don't squeeze the collar and sleeve together completely that it snaps into place and don't cut the rope. This will allow readjustments. To make it even faster to adjust, we leave the caps off the handle ends and allow the excess rope to protrude past the ends when our 10 year old uses it. Technically, you could just adjust one end of the rope, if you don't mind the asymmetrical look of excess rope sticking out of one handle. Very happy that we didn't have to get separate ropes! We've been using this on rough concrete so the rubber plastic rope shows moderate scuffs and scratches. Hope this will last us a few years though because I really love this rope. Happy jumping!
