The Yule Tomte and the Little Rabbits: A Christmas Story for Advent

This is a second year I’m reading this book to my now 6yo, one chapter a day (25chapters). It’s gonna become our tradition! My kid literally is upset she needs to wait another day to hear what happens next. The Grump is a magnetic character cause he’s so grumpy. Can’t recommend enough.

I bought this book for my great-nephews , age 4( they are twins ) . Their mom said they loved the story , and the pictures . I had looked it over before I sent it to them , and I loved it . So I got one for myself ! 😊

I'm smitten with the tomtes! Their look, the long red hat, fat nose, white beard. But in this story, our tomte is grumpy. Imagine that! Why is he? It's almost Christmas, a happy time of year. We also are introduced to the rabbit family, from grandfather down to the youngest children. Perhaps this curious family can bring holiday cheer to our grumpy tomte.

This story is ADORABLE! Not only that, but we bought a little Gnome on Amazon also and we are doing a GNOME in the HOME for our Christmas tradition this year, instead of the, Elf on a Shelf, like everyone else. Pretty much the same concept but this book also works as an advent book and you have a short chapter everyday. Very short with pictures so my 3.5 year old doesn't get bored. She is so excited about her Tomte and his book! It was about $40 for both. So just a tad bit more than the Elf on the Shelf book and Elf set. But this book is WAY larger, way more cute, the best story, and I think, way more fun! My kiddos are loving it!You will not be disappointed!

Gave as a Christmas gift. The color illustrations are beautiful.

I wated the book but it was completely destroyed when UPS left it in four+ inches of water with NO alert that it was going to be deliverwd a week earlier than said.

Fun to learn about other cultures.

Beautifully illustrated, simply charming story. We will be reading this yearly to count down the days till Christmas. A lovely introduction to a Swedish Christmas .

The book is really cute, and quite long (you really can read one chapter a day leading up to Christmas). But you can kinda tell that it was translated from Swedish. The grammar is correct, it just feels a little weird to read. The patterns and words feel like something a Swedish person would use when translating directly, so it's as if you're reading something in a Swedish language pattern (I have family in Sweden, which is why I bought this, and it is exactly how they speak). It doesn't flow naturally. The story itself is cute (more indicative of the free parenting style in Europe, no North American would think to write it) and the illustrations are impressive.

My 10 year old really loved this although it may be far more suitable for younger children. I also bought a copy for my nieces who are 5 and 8.

Amazing book!! This will be a new Christmas tradition in my family.

Bought after reading reviews & am so glad I did. This is a lovely hardback book with nice short chapters & lovely illustrations. Saving for Advent so am not reading until then but have skimmed through & the story seems lovely & traditional & fedtive. A definite new Christmas tradition!

Loved this book! Bought it to read to my mum every night as she has dementia. Every night up to and including Christmas Day she fell asleep to the beautiful artwork and gentle story of the Tomte and the rabbits.
