Great line trimmer.
Does what is supposed to do and does it well. Battery life is good, 30 to 40 minutes of actual trimming time. Recharge time is quick, less than 30 minutes. I have seen a few reviews that say the battery and charger get very hot. That has not been my experience. They get mildly warm even going from weak to fully charged. The trimmer has plenty of power for most things I need to trim including vines and such that I thought would be too much. It seems well made but I only have about 2 hours of use on it so time will tell. Good value for the dollar in my opinion. Just wish extra batteries were not so expensive.

BEST One So Far... Cordless Trimmer.
Overall out of the box it looks to be a great sturdy and light weight battery power string trimmer. Worthy of 5 stars. BUT... I have yet to test this out due to this was Black Friday item and now winter time, will have to wait until spring and summer. As of now I was able to check and or test out the battery and charger. Battery came partially charged about 20% to 40%. I decided to charge the battery to full charge thereby also testing the charger. The charger : At first plug in, both red and greed light simultaneously flashes ONCE (a good sign). Upon connecting the battery, the charger started to hum from silent to loud and started to smell like something is burning. ( I got nervous and disconnect and unlatched the battery and unplug from the outlet.). Back to reading the manual (still not clue). But my understanding was the cooling fan. Research some YouTube videos. Conjured up some courage to try again. Plugged in the charger and connect the battery. Same thing as stated earlier. Held my breath and left it connected and allow it to charge (supposedly). I made sure after 15 min. to check up on it just to make sure it had not started to catch fire or exploded. So far so good. After 1hr on the charger, went to check on it; press on the battery power button and the indicator light was solid on 4 bar and 5 bar was flashing (good sign I thought). After 1 and 1/2 hr went back to check again and Bam! battery was fully charged. BUT the charge still was humming, noise was not loud but you can still hear it. Conclusion was that the loud noise was the cooling fan working to cool the charger while it was charging. This needs to be clearly stated in the manual.Once battery was fully charged I decided to dry operating the trimmer, connect the battery and squeezed both levers and Bam!......IT works. Other than that, so far I have a working product/item. Can't wait until spring/summer.Finally : I recommend this.Update (December 2023) : Got a chance to test this item on my backyard in December month. This trimmer works and operation really as expected and better than others I have own. It has power. Did the whole backyard filled with dried and dead weeds (still standing) just fine without using anymore string. I did not even notice that the string was jammed but was able to finish my yard. (Note : Possibly string can be easily jammed or even ran out without even knowing it, only that the string got shorter or too short). The battery used was 2 bars to do my whole backyard. Good sign that one full charge can and will do my whole front and back yard.

Great tool, but string release mechanism is flawed
Operationally, the unit performs better than expected, with a good amount of power. And the battery has been holding up really well. However the string release mechanism is flawed, unreliable, and sometimes requires extreme downward force. The amount of force can stress the pole unless you reach down directly to the head. The string frequently get stuck requiring removal and reinstallation.

Very Impressed
First off, I love that the battery charger has a fan in it to cool the battery. The battery casing has slots in it for the fan to blow air through, helping to keep the battery cool and to extend it's life. It's well thought out. The components feel solid, and I like how quiet this is compared to our old trimmer. Very glad we went with the top brand on this. It's going to last a long time. The other nice thing is that the batteries are interchangeable with their other products. Greenworks has so many different batteries, we just couldn't decide on a trimmer, and mower, and leaf blower because all the batteries were different. This battery, we can use on their other products.

Complete Disappointment. What good is a powerful trimmer that can't trim?
EGO String TrimmerThe product reviews that I read for this were very positive, including Consumer Reports, they influenced my purchasing decision. The reviews must have been written by the EGO company. The unit appears to be very well made but has a fatal flaw, where the rubber meets the road.I tried to cut some weeds coming up through driveway cracks. Out of the box, within 30 seconds of use the strings were worn down to just short nubs and the auto-feed mechanism just plain didn't work. The auto feeding head is a complete piece of junk. It would have taken 5 minutes with a garden hoe to do the job. I spend over 45 minutes repeatedly disassembling the unit and rewinding the string, but to no avail. After a couple of tap feeds the unit was again inoperative. Sometimes it took up to 10 taps to get it to feed. Other times it appeared to be feeding out line on its own.I also tried another brand of trimmer line and got the same results I finally just gave up trying to use the unit. I've never seen a trimmer use so much line to do so little. This is probably reason I've noticed professional gardeners don't use tap-to-feed heads. In addition, forget the instruction book telling you to press in the tabs on the head with your thumbs to dissemble the unit unless you are King Kong. I found that a flat screwdriver gently inserted and turned 90 degrees works just fine.Additionally, I would not recommend this unit for a woman unless she has incredibly strong hands and wrists to wind the cord into the head and the strength to hold the trimmer, it’s fairly heavy. If EGO does not respond with an adequate solution I plan on returning the unit to Amazon and posting this on every site where I read a positive review.

Great weed eater! No problems!
Great trimmer, charge and go to work! No gas and all the associated parts of an internal combustion engine.
