An honest review and a few suggestions for product improvement
We purchased this poncho for backpacking and camping. While we find its rain repellency and size to be good and reliable, in general, there are a few minor manufacturing quirks others might find useful prior to purchase. First, if you're an adult under 6ft tall and up to 250lbs, this will provide adequate coverage. It's not going to keep your shins or boots dry in a driving rain (that's what waterproof boots are for!), but if you button up the snaps along the sides (3 snaps per side), you should keep nice and dry. Unless, of course, you've got a big head or wear a ballcap. We found the head opening to be a little too snug to don the poncho while wearing a ball cap and glasses; though, once through, the hood provides ample coverage and the built-in visor helps keep the wet off the ball cap's brim. The side snaps are decently spaced apart, but their placement at the edge of the material makes us wary of pulling them open too fast. The chest pocket is sizeable and, to give you an idea, you could fit a couple decks of cards inside –maybe a phone, too. The material is light and that's great, except if the wind is really blowing; then, the material blows around a lot (even while snapped) and that presents some opportunities for an intruding drop or three. The forest camo poncho we purchased would probably work for hunting, too, though the rustling of the material (not as bad as plastic) could give up the game –along with the large white logo printed on the lower right corner. All told, it's a good poncho for the price. A slightly larger head opening, a slightly larger hood with drawstrings, a brim band, reinforced seams for the snaps, maybe an additional 4 inches of material for the arms and legs would be good; a drawstring at the waist and mid-thigh would all make this poncho perfect. Don't let this review dissuade you from getting this poncho, especially if you get it for the rare occasion you're caught off guard and need something, like your vehicle's emergency bag. Happy poncho-ing!

Very Good Poncho for the Price, if a Bit Short
I'm a rain-adverse, but avid hiker. I very much dislike gortex shells since they're (1) not really waterproof, (2) steambaths when exercising. So when rain threatens, I use a poncho—but not the wimpy plastic kind (good only in emergencies). I prefer good ponchos because they're smaller, lighter, and above all: voluminous. So one can actually hike uphill in the thing without producing more moisture inside than the rain throws at you. It's easy to disperse the internal moisture just by waving the poncho around. This poncho is coated nylon (or polyester; not much difference). It comes with a small stuff sack, which is handy for when you want to take the thing off and stuff it back into your pack without getting the rest of your gear wet. My last poncho (stolen) was a Sierra Designs model that was quite similar to this one, but cost twice as much. As with my Sierra designs poncho, this one could be a foot or two longer to protect more of my legs (I'm only 5-9). The sleeves could be another 6" longer as well. But I'll forgive those quibbles because the price was so low, and, let's face it, nothing keeps you completely dry. 4 stars since it's really too short. But very serviceable. And it comes in lots of colors, including the orange I like to be seen in (hey, we all might need something to wave at the rescue copter).

Great to have for rainy Alaska excursions
Absolutely loved having these for our Alaska excursions from the cruise ship! Nice, lightweight, easily packable. These ponchos came in handy when the drizzle and rain started up - easy to put on over our backpacks. Kept us nice and dry! Also, highly breathable vs the disposable plastic ones. Ours held up to the windy conditions too! Dried quickly as well. Note, hood works much better if you have a baseball cap or visor with hard lip to keep the hood up and out of your eyes. Otherwise, you could fold the hood opening up but will still slip down a bit if you don't have a cap lip.

Extra thick?
I needed a heavier raincoat and the extra thick hooded poncho sounded good. It’s thin as any other poncho IMHO. Nice colorful design. But a design is not going to keep me warm.

Guter Stoff, aber zu klein

Great poncho for emergencies. Easily fits over back pack and unclips to make a makeshift shelter. Only thing is fabric seems a bit frail but I have not tested it out yet.

Its light in weight, and also pretty portable. Fabric is those rip stop material with a good layer of waterproof material on the outside if I am not wrong. Use it for riding on a motorcycle reaching to max speed of 70km/hr, I don’t really recommend. The air flow will be a hazard and also might destroy the item in the long run. After riding on my motorcycle with this poncho, no visible damage can be found. Well, at least maybe I don’t need to worry much about strong wind. Poncho is easy to keep. Overall I am satisfied with product.

Great poncho kept me dry more than one downpour. Keep it in the handy ouch under my driver seat for quick access on rainy days.
