SEAL Survival Guide: A Navy SEAL's Secrets to Surviving Any Disaster

An absolutely fantastic book for anyone concerned with survival of all kinds.
Even though I am well into my senior years and served for 4 years in the U.S. Navy more than 60 years ago, I am still interested in anything to do with the martial arts, warrior fitness, law enforcement tactics, guns, knives, survival techniques, and especially anything written about the U.S. NAVY SEALS, even though I was never a SEAL myself. This is why when I saw this incredible 345-pages soft cover book, (SEAL survival Guide: A Navy Seal’s secrets to surviving any disaster by Cade Courtley), on Amazon for a bargain price I decided to purchase it. As always, the delivery service was quick and efficient.I loved this book from the very first page to the end. This book should be studied and read by anyone who is interested in not becoming a victim of circumstances but doing things where you are in control. It is a book about you and your loved one's safety and survival. As someone who has also taught many of these same principles to my fellow police officers and students in the past, the information taught in this book is very informative and will be of essential and practical value to anyone who wants to think and act like a survival warrior. The four parts in this fantastic book covers an enormous amount of material and this short review cannot do this book justice. Part, one teaches you about the SEAL mindset and survival psychology (my favorite topic). The second part, which is the largest, deals with numerous survival scenarios. The third part is all about gear and improvised weapons. The final part gives practical information on survival medicine. This excellent book provides specific and practical tips on how to deal with a wide range of incidents such as survival on ships, active shooter advice, airplane crashes, animal attacks, auto accidents, bombs, burglary and robbery, carjacking, fighting and numerous other incidents.I loved this book and highly recommend it for anyone who desires to take control of their lives and be ready for a multiple of things that could happen in our often-precarious life. I have read numerous books in the past about developing the warrior mindset and survival, and this in my opinion is the best out of all of them.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Expectations vs. Reality
I had heard the author on the radio, and thought this would be a great book for my adult sons. All of them live in places with inclement weather, and all of them like outdoor activities. I thought that the book would cover situations like getting stuck in a show bank overnight, but the book covers ALL survival scenarios--at least, all that I can think of--and many more. Be sure to go to the preview on Amazon & check out the Table of Contents. When my sons got the book, they asked when I was going to disarm a hand grenade or be involved in a high-speed chase. (You never know what grandma might do...) These are some of the more dramatic incidents that the author addresses, but the author does address more mundane issues like getting stuck in the desert, falling through the ice & auto accidents. One of the best parts of the book are the side bars. One is "Never Hesitate to Ask Questions That Could Save Your Life"--It's a paragraph long, but the salient point is--"Don't let the fear of what others think of you become an impediment to survival." Hmmmm....think 9-11 when people stayed in the buildings because they were told to.The info in this book is so current that the author addresses the Costa Concordia cruise ship disaster and mall shootings. The Table of contents is in alphabetical order by incident, and therefore serves as a quick & easy index! If I'm involved in the middle of a biochemical attack, I want to be able to quickly look up some practical tips. Of course, I'll be carrying my Seal Survival Guide with me! Grandma's got you covered.Buy it. Put it in the bathroom. Learn it. Live.

Good book on general survival
"Seal Survival Guide: A Navy SEAL's Secrets to Surviving Any Disaster" by Cade Courtley, host of "Surviving Disaster," is a good general book on survival. Courtley provides tips and suggestions for surviving many dangerous situations, some of which include active shooters, animal attacks, bombs, earthquakes, fires, floods, highjackings, hurricanes, going to jail, wilderness survival, riots, stalkers, torture, and more. However, I think the most important parts of this book are when he talks about the SEAL mindset and survival psychology. Mindset is so important and Courtley does a good job of stressing the kind of mindset needed to survive.Because this is a "general" book on survival, some topics are not as in depth as some may like, and one would be wise to seek out additional information on topics that one may be more prone to experience. For example, the chapter on fighting is very brief, and while the book has some tips, there are many other resources that provide more information on fighting. Same can go for other topics too. For instance, the last two parts of the book contain brief chapters on gear, firearms, improvised weapons and survival medicine. There are entire books on these topics, so if you need more information, add to your library or take some classes. With that said, for a general book on survival, this is a good one. It is an easy read, contains some good advice and tips, and has some interesting stories from Courtley's time in the service. As someone who studies and teaches survival measures too, I liked reading this book. It reminded me of things, reinforced others, and gave me another view on some topics. It is one of many resources I have, and I'm glad I added it to my survival resource library. Because when things go bad, you need to be prepared, and this book is one step toward being more prepared and ready for whatever comes your way. Read it and others, be prepared, and stay safe.Reviewed by Alain Burrese, J.D., author of "Lost Conscience: A Ben Baker Sniper Novel"

If you can only get one survival book, this is it
This book has the widest variety of actually likely to occur scenarios of any survival book I've read. While all survival books have something to offer, this one has the most practical applications, as many of the scenarios happen every day, or at least once a year, somewhere in N. America or the world. If you can only get one survival book, this would be the one to get.If you can get two, I recommend this one and 100 Deadly Skills: Survival Edition. Those two books will set you up for anything that is likely to come your way.

Feel like SEAL
Durchaus Lesenswert!
