🔧 Drill Your Way to Perfection!
The DEWALT Drill Bit (DW1586) is a robust 1-1/2 inch x 6 inch spade bit designed for heavy-duty applications. Its heat-treated shank offers exceptional durability, while the optimized cutting groove enhances chip removal efficiency. With features like chamfered corners for impact resistance and a paddle hole for easy storage, this drill bit is engineered for professionals who demand reliability and performance.

5/8" minimum hole
FYI, the business end has a 5/8" diameter. So you cannot use it to drill a deep hole smaller than 5/8".

How To Insert Drill Bit Securely into the Dewalt Extension
Exactly what I needed to install cabling for a project. To insert the drill bit, first pull down the chrome by hand and hold it down, fully insert drill bit, release chrome. The bit will now be securely attached to the extension. Now attach the extension to the drill like any drill bit.

Its worth it
Wish I have these years ago. Ever want to use a power drill but do not have a 6 inch bit to get past an obstacle, like when you need to hang a curtin rod and the blessed screw hole is just poorly located? This might help. So will beer. But this will get the job done.

drills a clean recessed hole for a bolt
I needed to recess some bolt heads in wood (5/16" bolts). No standard spade bit will drill a clean recessed hole for something like a bolt anymore. They're all super hyper aggressive and rip the wood to shreds. This is the only bit left on the market I think that still does a clean recessed hole. It doesn't have those extended end-tip points (whatever) that all the other bits have which pre-gouge the outer edges of the hole and further mutilate the wood as its cutting. Just the opposite. This bit has tapered-up edges if you notice in the picture. And coincidentally, the remaining flat bottom of the recessed hole before the taper fits a 5/16" bolt washer perfectly. It must have been made for this use. And a socket wrench fits easily in the hole to turn the bolt.(Hint, to further reduce the pull-in aggressiveness, pre-drill a small started hole so that the center of the spade bit doesn't want to pull even harder into the wood. It gives you good control of how fast you go down. But don't pre-drill a big hole, otherwise the spade bit will wander all over the place.)

Poor design
These are much more robustly built than the lighter duty magnetic bit holders but these are not magnetic and the throat of the bit holder is too deep to the point that none of my quick release socket bits have a long enough shank to actually lock in and the small bit drivers, like for deck screws, are so short they don’t stick out the end. Both of these bits fit and work well directly in my impact driver.A very poor design for anything but philips head type driver bits that don’t have a shoulder and are more than an inch in length. Very poor design for my needs.

Wish I'd had this along time ago. Outstanding tool for HVAC!
I can't tell you how many times prior to receiving this tool that I wish I'd had it while working on HVAC air handlers and furnaces. This tool has already bailed me out a couple times while trying to extract sequencers and other related components mounted to the back of the units. Seriously, if your in the HVAC trade, this is one of those tools that will save time and reduce frustration. I don't have any problems with the way other impacts bits fit into it. Yep, you have to slide the spring catch back and release it to lock the bit in. Easy business. The extension seems to be very well made and so far has performed flawlessly, exactly what I've come to expect from Dewalt. I had two sequencers that needed to be changed in a Mobile home, the liquid, suction, and condensate drain were located directly in front of the component. Not enough room to get an impact in there, my regular 6" extension bits wouldn't reach. Without this tool, It was either going to be a stubby screw driver or go back to the truck to get a ratchet set. Pulled out this extension, inserted my 6" bit extension, and bam screws were removed. Time and or trip to truck saved. Highly recommend picking one of these up if your in the HVAC trade.

Works fine to drill holes in a media equipment cabinet, except....
What can I say? I need to drill holes to route cables in a media equipment cabinet. (You know...they have holes going out the back, but not between the different shelves and sections.) This worked just fine, but I'll mention two things to consider: First, you can buy spade bits that have little cutting edges that extend from the outer points, and these make neater holes when you drill through vinyl-faced particle board. OTOH, they are more expensive. Just be sure to drill a pilot hole, drill part of the way from one side, and then drill the remainder from the other side to prevent chipping and splintering. Second, this may not be quite big enough to get a 120 VAC US plug through the hole. A 1-1/8" or 1-1/4" would be a better choice if you have to do that. Again, they're more expensive.

Very durable and very curved !
Good day ! Solidly made , but very crooked ! It is simply impossible to achieve the correct setting... It takes a long and painful time to correct it in my BHP-451 cordless drill... The result is not very good....But to be honest, I didn't expect any big miracles from this extension cord....With this length, it is very difficult to achieve good processing quality... For precise work, it is not exactly suitable , but for screwing hardware at not very high speeds is quite good...Yes, and I think that for feather drills, too, will fit... But, again, only small turns.... It is not suitable for installation in Impact drills, since it will not be possible to adjust its curvature... The verdict is that it would be foolish to expect better for this modest amount of money... Maybe someone will be lucky and get a very smooth one....I tried to straighten it out , but it turned out to be an empty idea... I'll try to order another one, see what happens..... Good luck to all !

Runs true to centre
Used this an extension on a hex drill bit to drill out a pair of manifold studs, there was some vibration as far a staying centred but that was to be expected. Drilled a pilot hole first so it wasnt a huge problem. Bought a short a long one both were straight with no bends in them. Worked well

Excellent
Excellent product, does exactly what it is designed to do. Excellent cutting speed and chip clearance. Just a shame it took so long to arrive when simple Royal Mail 2nd class would have been here in two days.

perfect match
This is a well made product and works well with the Dewalt flat bits I also purchased and fits in the same case.
