Easy to use and doesn't bleed
One of the main problems with using regular masking tape is that it has a tendency to bleed when you paint on it. Even doing things like applying adult coat spray to the tape it would still bleed. Not with this stuff! You apply it just use an embossing tool or a dull paintbrush edge or something to make sure that it seals down real good and then paint away! When you go to remove the tape, make sure you pull it straight up and then back and you will find a nice clean paint scene. This works great with my 125th scale models as well as my 1/16th and 1/8 iscale models. It may cost a little more but in the long run the extra investment is well worth it since you won't have to be stripping down or painting over and trying to get your edges nice and clear.JPL

tamiya Masking Tape -- excellent adhesion prevents sprayed items from "leaking", great for hobbyists and modelers
This applies to scale model ship painting: bought the Tamiya brand masking 6 and 10mm tapes based on advice from a seasoned hobbyist. It was excellent advice. Am discovering that Tamiya produces quality modeling supplies and kits. No complaints on their kits, paints, tools, etc, and prefer Tamiya (though higher cost) over all others.Tape adheres very well, so there is no bleeding of paint under the tape. But, spend some time getting a firm seal, it's worth the effort; I use a stiff and small old toothbrush for this. A smoothed and rounded pop-sickle stick rubbed along the edge also helps.Tape remains flexible enough, at least the 6mm, so that it follows curves and conforms to irregular surfaces... within reason, but we're talking 12-15" model ships.Tape removes nicely, leaves a clean paint line if you have prepped your work well. It's on the spendy side for masking tape, but you will save time and re-work and heart ache. I use regular brand-name household paint masking tapes for covering the remaining parts from overspray, typically the 1- to 2-inch wide blue stuff, works well in combination with the Tamiya defining the paint edge.Recommended for detailed painting and spraying.

All masking tapes aren’t the same.
The Absolute Best painting tape ever for scale modelers like myself.I’ve tried others, but they leak or marr paint underneath. Not so with Tamiya, It makes my projects easier and better.Highly recommended!!! Jeff T.

Even great for alternative uses
I use this for an uncommon activity, so take my 4-stars with some lenience. I need tape of this thickness to hybridize flowers in the garden, so it must take writing and withstand watering and three months of 90+ degrees outside ... the tape itself does not hold up well enough for that task. But, the dispenser is just the right size for the other tape I use for that purpose, and for that reason the purchase of the dispenser was a huge benefit to the ease of using my hybridizing tape. Excellent!

Great stuff in a sticky, tight, situation!
Works just fine. Expensive, yes...but you get what you pay for! Besides, what has t become expensive in the hobby over the past decade??? In plastic modeling, Tamiya means quality! No reservation in recommending this item. Get some and you'll agree! Probably.

no bleed thru!
Tape worked great for a 2 tone paint scheme I'm doing of my 1979 El Camino. Also going to use to spray paint a very narrow pinstripe separating the 2 colors! Make sure to press tape into body lines etc. as you tape off the model, otherwise paint could bleed thru. Nice that it is in a re-usable plastic dispenser so the tape doesn't pick up any fuzzy's which kill a paint job! ; )

Perfect for modeling.
Perfect for modeling kits, especially for small/narrow areas.
