Love this tool
Great drywall cut out tool. Makes life a lot easier when trying to cut out pieces in drywall that’s already been hung. Very easy to use and lasts a long time with the battery.

Another great addition to my Makita LXT line.
I have dozens of the Makita LXT tools, and even more batteries. This cut out tool has great speed and power. I use it exclusively for cutting out drywall when installing on our jobs. Never given me any problems at all. Plenty of power to cut through most materials if the correct bit is used.

Absolutely a MUST HAVE for any wallboard hanger!
This tool is a must-have for any wallboard project of any size. Bought this as we are remodeling our office at our growing business. This makes perfect plug in, switch, and light box cutouts in your wallboard with zero guessing and no hack jobs. Also handy for window and door openings in your wallboard, no more jagged, sloppy fits anymore.Best of all- no more tripping over cords- as it was 20 years ago when I hanged and finished wallboard for a living. As anyone who uses rotary tools knows, finding a plug in on a job can be a struggle, as the plugs and switches are always removed from the boxes so you can make perfect cutouts around the boxes.. Battery life is better than I expected even with a 3.0 battery, these cutout tools do pull quite a load. I won't use this but every once in a blue moon, but it already paid for itself in the professional results and removal of frustration on this one job. Money well spent!

Efficient and Lightweight Cordless Cut-Out Tool Review
I recently had the opportunity to use the Cordless Cut-Out Tool, and overall, it effectively gets the job done. Its primary strength lies in simplifying the cutting of drywall, especially in doorways and other cutouts, making such tasks notably easier. Additionally, its lightweight design contributes to ease of use, ensuring that handling the tool during extended periods remains comfortable. However, one notable downside is its fast drainage of 18v batteries, necessitating frequent recharges or battery swaps during more extensive projects. Furthermore, using a larger battery to counter this issue results in the tool becoming too heavy, compromising its ergonomic advantages.A suggested improvement would be to design a specialized wrench that integrates with the tool for adding and removing bits, rather than relying on a separate, standalone wrench. This enhancement would streamline tool maintenance and reduce the risk of misplacing crucial components. In conclusion, while the Cordless Cut-Out Tool excels in its intended functions and user-friendly design, addressing battery drainage and introducing a more integrated wrench solution would significantly enhance its overall usability and efficiency.Overall Rating: [4 Out of 5]

Great spiral cutting tool
Once again, own a few corded and cordless spiral cutting tools, and the Makita has relegated them to a drawer. It has a lot of power and just works easily handling everything I have thrown at it, including cutting some materials my other tools struggle at, like thicker chipboard and plywood. Zero complaints other than perhaps the size which was just an adjustment.By the way, if people are buying this thinking it is a router, it isn't. Routers are routers. This is a cut-out too. Totally different head. Acquire a router for routing tasks and features. As a cutting tool, this one does not disappoint this user.

Best rotary tool I have ever used
I have very high expectations from Makita, so I went into this being critical. While building my house, I used this thing very hard. Mostly on drywall, but also on trim and other wood. It outperforms the Dewalt and Dremel corded units I used before this one. The foot is easily adjustable and this thing is easy to control. It works best with the 5Ah batteries because it does tend to be a battery hog. Seems like I would change batteries every hour or so if I was using it hard....but the power and speed of this thing is well worth changing the battery. Top notch tool right here!!

Practice, Practice, Practice
Works fine after you learn to adjust bit depth, but still takes practice to learn to cut correctly. The problem is you are actually cutting blind!I finally measured and cut a hole near the center so I could see where I was at. You also have to pay attention to the bit depth when cutting around receptacle boxes. Just be aware and practice on a piece of scrap sheet rock.OPINION: It is a great tool, nothing else will cut boxes as tight as this tool, but learn to use it. The guys in the videos make it look a lot easier than it really is until you become proficient with it.
