Max Has a Fish (Penguin Young Readers, Level 1)

Cute book for new readers. Great for sight words and cvc words. Story is cute.

It was fair.

I like this book because it has simple sentences and perfect for the learning reader. There's maybe 50 (?) words total but they get repeated for memory and retention. Unlike other "level 1" books, this one is well done for the early reader.

Cute book. Our 4 year old granddaughter loves to read this book. Even our 2 year old grandson knows some of the words (I thinkhe looks at the pictures and then knows what to say.

My son just turned 5 years old. They do not have a reading program at his preschool yet, but with the help of bedtime reading, Grandma's help, alphabet learning and books like this, my son is getting very confident at reading all by himself.This book is a bit harder than his first beginner books, but with a little help from me he's sounding out the new easy words and feeling great at his accomplishments!

Fun book, love how it’s levels!

Overall the book is good (story and illustrations) but get out your white-out if you'd rather your young child not use the word butt. C'mon Penguin Young Readers, really? There are alternatives. Some may think I am over reacting but my family and none of the families we know use talk like this, and certainly we don't teach it as acceptable language for a young child. This is mildly offensive but teaching it as OK to kids just leads to bigger and badder words as they grow. Just think about it.

Cute story. Makes my grandson laugh out loud when he reads it.
