The proof is in the pudding baby
I laid new Bermuda grass in April and put new soil and tall fescue just two weeks ago. The flowers I’ve planted in the flower beds along the way. One has succeeded and the other has been a garden of death and that was the reason for buying this soil tester. I want to show everyone what I received out of the box. I got home and went straight to the yard because my sprinkler system had just watered and the soil was loose. I have a small screwdriver that I initially used to make the holes to insert the probes. I soon found they were not as fragile as people claim and only had to use it in a couple areas. But, I do recommend using the screwdriver method in case you have rocky or clay lawns. You have to use common sense. If it doesn’t slide smoothly into the ground, why force it in. As for the rest, the pictures I uploaded speak for themselves. Every area was a little bit different and most importantly, I got a great overall picture of what is happening with my lawn and garden areas. I don’t need to use this until I make amendments and if this only last me one year, at 16 bucks I’ll gladly purchase another for next year. I will also be doing professional soil tests this year as I get more serious about the main and garden but this is a new house and new sod so this is a great start. I am accumulating more professional equipment along the way but this soil tester is no slouch and I don’t see it giving me a problem as long as I take care of it just as I would a professional tool. Hope this helps.

Fairly solid product, slightly questionable pH reader
Hey, guys! My wife and I bought a property that we were sold on starting some horticulture on. That being said, we needed a good moisture and pH reader. This product has fair reviews and was competitively priced with other similar products. After several tests I have found the moisture reader to be quite useful and reliable. The light function we have little need for. The pH function on the device seems to never veer from a 7.5 pH reading. Even when testing notably acidic soil, soil that we know is around at least 6, the reader does not pick this up. When I set up our raised blueberry beds with sulfur in the spring I will re-test this function and get back to you guys in its effectiveness. -Dr. Alex

Does what it’s supposed to at fraction of cost of digital meters
I love this thing! I purchased dwarf citrus trees to grow in containers, and they are finicky about wet feet, so I wanted a moisture meter. I agonized over reviews and the price of digital units; I didn’t want to spend a fortune as a garden hobbyist. In my deep dive into reviews, I found one that recommended this unit as an alternative to the pricy digital ones. I’ve been so happy with it! I would have seriously overwatered my little citrus trees without it. In fact, I’ve discovered that I’ve been overwatering my tomato plants for years This meter has also reassured me that the plants in our west-facing courtyard are in fact not going to die of thirst between waterings in our high mountain desert summer heat.. I now have this bad boy in my shed with a repurposed spiral notebook and pen, and I make the rounds of all my vegetable and ornamental plants every morning. I haven’t even used the light and pH functions yet - the moisture meter alone is well worth the cost. The instructions do say to wipe the probes off as you move from plant to plant; I’ve repurposed an old sock for that and it lives in the shed with the meter and the notebook.

Not accurate at all with regards to PH
If you are buying this to read the ph level, like I did, look somewhere else. It seems accurate for moisture and light but not ph. I bought a ph kit to test my soil and it showed 6.5 ph, but this pings at 8 in the same location I took the dirt from. I did this experiment in multiple areas in the garden with the same results. A 1.5 ph change might not seem like a bunch but it's huge in regards to plants and iron deficiency problems. I was hoping to love the product but I am so so on it. There are probably better ones out there that are accurate at all three levels so keep looking. It is worth wild to note after poor results even in wet coffee grounds, which should have showed acidic and didn't, I tried the sand paper trick some people have mentioned and the results did not change.

Easy to use, easy to read! Pretty much fool proof
It couldn’t be simpler to use so there isn’t any way you could miss read the meter! Now keep in mind I have NOT crossed referenced the readings that I’ve taken so far but any who, I inserted into my lawn at 3 out of 4 corners of the yard & received 3 different readings. To me that’s exciting what I expected mainly do to the fact that I’ve filled in low spots/ leveled out the yard off and on & with different types of soil (just depending on what was convenient at the time for me). It would have definitely been a red flag if the readings would have been consistent. Tip: if you have compact soil like the red clay where I’m located you really have to break up the soil as advised in the directions or you will been the tines! Oops on my part!

ph meter doesnt work
I was so excited when the 3-in-1 meter arrived!! I tested it immediately on my raised bed garden soil, with no ph or moisture readings at all. I figured it may be operator error. I filled up a large plastic cup with a mixture of soil from all the raised beds and brought it inside for a closer look. I checked the meter with pure vinegar and it read a ph reading of roughly 6. I'm confident the reading should have been much more acidic. I took some moister readings on the sample, (the soil was not dry), and got no moisture reading at all. I continued to add distilled water to the sample, taking readings as i added more and more distilled water and didn't get a reading until the sample was the consistency of soup. I don't know what else to say other then this is item doesn't seem to give accurate readings. I don't trust it enough to use the results to adjust the soil composition. (which is why I bought it). On the plus side the light meter worked!

It tells me the moisture, light and the ph level which are all essential information for planting

Is overall perfect, it is not completely precise but it gives you an overall good reading, just make sure to clean it before inserting it into the soil. Awesome product, was happy that it does not require batteries.

I have had this soil meter for awhile now and find it is quite accurate as I have tested it many times with along other soil meter products I have. I like there is no battery required.
