Size Name:1 kg Product Description Phosphorous (P) is an element which is present in aquariums in various forms, but mainly as a botanical phosphate, which constitutes a primary source of nutrition for algae. High concentrations of phosphates, in particular, intervene positively on the metabolism of green algae, while brown algae proliferate with high concentrations of silicates. Besides producing the undesired effect of aiding the proliferation of algae, high levels of phosphate can inhibit the calcification process in coral and other invertebrates. The possible causes of the increase in phosphate in an aquarium are various, including the decomposition of dead organisms or vegetation, the decomposition of uneaten food, impurities in the original water or the chemical additives used. The reduction in these phosphates (and secondly the silicates) is therefore a fundamental operation for the correct maintenance of an aquarium. In most cases, the concentration of phosphates are recommended at 0.05 ppm in order to keep the aquarium free of infesting algae. Lower values, namely 0.01 ppm are necessary for marine and barrier aquariums, in order to allow the correct growth of hard coral. The best method of lowering the phosphate and silicate concentration is the treatment of the water with a specific product; REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR is made up of Aluminium oxide, in a form and dimension optimized to increase the efficiency of phosphate removal. Aluminium oxide acts with a powerful absorption, forming stable complexes of phosphate and silicate molecules on its surface. With respect to other products with a different chemical formulation, REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR has some obvious advantages; The reduction in phosphate levels usually treated with aluminium oxide is far more rapid and effective than calcium hydroxide solutions. Compared to iron hydroxide, the effectiveness in absorption of Aluminium oxide is comparable, and fully sufficient in aquarium use, whereas the value for money is, however, totally in favour of aluminium oxide. Regarding aluminium oxide, it is important to underline that this product is highly insoluble in water and its use does not allow the release of soluble aluminium or other elements which could have negative effects on the inhabitants in the aquarium; in-depth scientific studies show that no traceable aluminium is released, neither are there undesired effects even after repeated use of up to 3 times more aluminium oxide than the advised dosage. Another aspect which makes REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR particularly effective in the removal of phosphates and silicates is its peculiar morphological and dimensional characteristics. REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR is, in fact, in the form of porous slivers, obtained from the chipping of aluminium oxide spheres. This allows a great increase of the surface/volume ratio (up to 300 m2/g), even thanks to the fact that the inside of the spheres are even more porous than the external surface, creating a vast increase in absorption. Directions Insert REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR in its net and rinse with reverse-osmosis water to eliminate residues and dust (the product may liberate plenty of heat the first time it comes into contact with water: use protective gloves and/or place the product in a container or cup for the first rinse). After which place this net in the filter or Sump, ensuring that there is a strong water flow. It is even more effective if used in a filter with fluid bed or in a phosphate reactor. REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR, as all absorbent material, is characterized by an maximum absorption capacity and must, therefore, be changed regularly if the phosphate level remains unaltered or lowers very gradually. For this reason it is important to test the phosphate concentration level in the aquarium regularly. Aluminium oxide and Iron hydroxide cannot be regenerated in any way, as phosphates and silicates are removed from the water through the formation of stable complexes on the surface. Therefore, REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 REAKTOR , once used, cannot be re-utilized. Very easy to rinse
This is a really good aluminum based phosphate remover. I use it in a DIY upflow reactor, I've tried many different phosphate removers for many years and this one is the easiest to rinse, and it does not color the water as some GFO do.

Great product.
Good product, clears quickly unlike rowa and fluidised right at the top end of my pumps capabilities. It's a very heavy and large grain which I prefer over the iron based products. Does a good job on phosphate export.
