Deliver to SINGAPORE
IFor best experience Get the App
2008 album from the Swedish melodic Rock band. Featuring singer Lars Sfsund, one of Sweden's best kept secrets, Work of Art delivers a melodic, yet powerful Rock music, based around Lars strong vocals. Influences like TOTO, Journey and Giant can be easily recognized. Ranging from more up-tempo Rockers like 'Why Do I?' to more radio-friendly songs like 'Camelia', grandiose ballads like 'One In A Lifetime' and even contemporary Rock songs like 'Cover Me', Work of Art is set to reach not only the traditional Melodic Rock fan base but also to cross over to a wider and more radio-based audience. Love it!
This band randomly popped up on my Pandora station that I created. Was easily hooked as I grew up in the 80's and love AOR rock. If you like Toto, Giant, Harem Scarem and others you will like this band.

Toto has been cloned!!
This is an awesome album by a new melodic rock group from Sweden. They have produced a flawless album filled with great vocal melodies and harmonies and pure Toto-like grooves. The entire album is very reminiscent of Toto's "Farenheit" and "Seventh One" with the heavy production and big choruses. If you like this style of high powered melodic rock then you will love this album. I can't pick out any negative points about this album except for the fact that it sounds so much like Toto! I think this is a bonus but some may not like the obvious influence. Definitely a contender for album of the year.

The debut cd is ok but not worth the high price.
Paid way to much for this cd. I do like some of it but it's not as good as the rest of the CDs out by this group.

Great Music for any fan of Toto
I am a big fan of Toto. Over the years I have bought all of their albums. This band Work of Art have created an amazing set of music that is very reminiscent of the Toto music I loved in the 80's. I love almost every song on this CD. It is an awesome disc. I especially like track 6 - "Whenever U Sleep". That song sounds especially like vintage Toto.I want to thank this band, "Work of Art", for making this music. I have been craving some new music like this for a long time and I love it.Thanks!!!

A new generation of AOR/melodic rock
"Artwork" is the debut album by Swedish AOR sensation "Work of Art", originally released in 2008 by Frontiers records to critical acclaim by fans of the gnere. The line up features lead singer Lars Safsund ("Lionville"), guitarist Robert Sall ("W.E.T.") and drummer Herman Furin.Although a newcomer group by 2008, without any live performances to this day, the members of "Work of Art" have been in and out of the melodic rock scene since 1992 therefore it should not come as big a surprise how accomplished their debut "Artwork" comes out. "Artwork" combines the best elements of American AOR and Scandinavian melodic rock into a one of the greatest AOR debuts of the decade. The guys combine the best elements of music giants like "Journey", "Toto" and "Styx" subsequently crafting an admirable collection of tunes; each song has clearly defined personality while the performances support the compositions to the greatest extent. For that matter you can expect to find groovy tempos, twin guitar leads, keyboard harmonies, piano melodies even guitar shredding, depending on the requirements of each track. It is more than evident that the trio has a clear vision of the way each song should come out but most importantly they are able to control the mood/atmosphere each composition delivers the listener. Favourite tracks include the guitar led "Peace of mind" the surprisingly upbeat "Her only lie", the keyboard driven "Too late", the progressive twist of "Whenever you sleep", the riff-based "Lost without your love", all of which are meant to convince event the most demanding AOR enthusiast. Last and above all, the opener "Why Do I" is amongst the most infectious melodic rockers ever that requires no more than a listen for one to mumble its chorus through the following days.

ties with Vital Signs as all time best melodic rock album
I always wanted to hear an entire album full of songs like Pamela. Toto never made that album. Here it is, arriving from Sweden.Work of Art has a sound that can be described as Seventh One on steroids. This album can share the same spot with Survivor's Vital Signs as the best melodic rock album of all time. How Do I is the high powered anthem that makes your jaw drop.Camelia can be translated as can you say goosebumps?By the time you get to "Her only Lie' it gets almost too much.My only concern with this album is that it is too good.Did these Swedes leave any material for a follow up disc?Musicianship is top notch. I mean even the solos match the quality of Lukather solos.Something very curious is happening in music these days.Legendary bands are failing to fulfill our wishes and the fans are taking over. Also check out classic Van Halen style songs from uber-fan Craig Parker Adams.

Best AOR album of 2008!
What an awesome release by these guys, they are admitted Toto fans and it shows. Big production value, soaring vocals, mind bending choruses, etc, etc. Though many of the songs sound alike and are lyrically linked to lost or found love the sure uplifting mood of this album will put a smile on your face. Some of the songs on this album are just absolutely jaw dropping they are so good, hope they get some support for this effort and a chance to put out another release, they deserve it. I live for collecting and listening to this type of music and the highest compliment i can can give it, is that i cant stop listening to it, cant say that about any other album this year, enough said.

Surpasses TOTO circa 1988 - it's really that good!
The reviews on this one are giving WOA almost universal acclaim for their debut disc - and rightly so!Work of Art (WOA) openly admit to the influence of TOTO (how refreshing is that?)but the seasoned AOR listener will pick out aspects of MR.MISTER, STYX, JOURNEY and BILL CHAMPLIN in there, too. More importantly, WOA have truly created their own sound that revitalises the classic AOR elements and takes them to a new level with crystalline production and fantastic arrangements.Listening to CAMELIA (the most TOTO-esque track), HER ONLY LIE and COVER ME had me thinking that this is maybe how good TOTO might have sounded if they'd followed up and developed the sound of THE SEVENTH ONE with a proper studio album in 1990, instead of a patchy, career-stalling, 'hits and bits' compilation with a dodgy new vocalist.WOA have the technical and melodic skills to raise the entire AOR game - this album is totally brillant so it's going to be thrilling to see how good they get with their second (out in two weeks!)..... !AOR isn't dead and WOA are the band that best evidence the vitality of the genre.I've never stopped playing this album, it's a total listening pleasure for any AOR fan and you should not hesitate to buy it!

Simply awesome debut!
Have been waiting for this release since listening to some audio clips on "my space" back at the beginning of January 08. Amidst all the hype delivered by Frontiers about this album, I can say with confidence that it reaches highs that most bands of this genre can only dream about. Superb production, great songs and hooks, top notch musicmanship. Toto are an obvious key influence amonst others Mr.Mister,Styx and a bit of Journey. The scandi's are leading the world in AOR/Melodic rock by a mile and this is the best of the bunch - Awesome!

80s AOR back with a vengeance...
As others have written, Work of Art are very much in the same vein as Toto, Journey, Survivor, etc. What impresses me is that they've taken up the fight for melodic rock without apology and have hit us with a brilliant first album of music that sounds as if it might have been recorded by any of the above mentioned bands in their pomp. I would think an obvious influence is Toto, but with the harsher edge of Isolation. Great voice, too. Listen to the final track, One Hour, and tell me that isn't a John Farnham clone!

Brilliant....totally brilliant.....!
The rest of the reviews are spot-on about this release - it is quite simply SUPERB! I can`t give this CD any less than five stars - brilliant memorable songs, superb musicianship and outstanding vocals. I bought this when it first came out and am still playing it regularly now. JUST BUY THE DAMN THING! If you are a fan of top quality melodic hard rock, this is a MUST HAVE......

Very, very good.
This is a great album with obvious 80's rock/pop influences. Great songs and superb vocals combine to create a superb first album for Work of Art. Play it loud, it's great!
