I am loving my Mr. Cool
We had a sunroom that was not heated in our new house in Maine and I needed something to heat during the winter and cool in the summer. I got to looking at these on Amazon and youtube and decided to try one. The room is a 14 x 20 room with windows on both sides. This 12K unit does outstanding in the summer for A/C and it does good in the winter. During the cold cold weather (below 10 degrees F) it runs constantly, but it does keep the room warm. We have had a couple of below zero nights and I put a space heater in the room just to give it some support. It is not nearly as efficient heating as it is cooling, but I am overall very happy. The install was some serious work as you have to be careful of the copper lines as you feed them through. I wanted to hide all my lines so I ran them through closets and spaces to the basement before I went outside with it. The 25' of charged lines was just enough for my application. I also had to run a new 110 circuit off my breaker panel which took me longer. Overall I spent a full day, but the install came out really nice! I have the compressor hung on brackets outside the house and it looks good. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and I may look to do another somewhere else in the house (mainly for A/C in the summer). If you are going to have to pay an electrician to come out and/or you are not comfortable doing a project like this; I would probably go with a different brand/model where you can get it installed and get support. I only did this unit as a strong DIY person, I did all of it with a little help from my wife. I think I did the whole project for about $1500.

Pretty simple to install. Working well so far
Just got through installing this unit. I was replacing a Pioneer unit which was absolute junk. The unit is extremely well packaged, the shipping company would have to drive over it to damage it , so you should have no issues receiving a damaged unit. As mentioned by some other reviewers, you really will need another person to help when it comes to running the lines out the hole because they are attached to the inside unit. The lines are very flexible so you would really have to be super-careless to damage them during the installation. Power connection is a breeze even for someone who isn't experienced. I didn't use the condensation hose that came with it, instead I inserted the short attached condensation line to a piece of pvc pipe when I ran down the wall. Hooked up the lines, opened the valves and used a spray bottle with some Dawn detergent to check for leaks. Powered the unit up, turned it on and checked for leaks again. Unit is working great and the outside compressor is super quiet. I'll probably end up replacing the Pioneer unit I have at the store with one of these.

You will need a 115 volt connection with a 20 amp breaker to operate this unit
I had such high hopes for this 12,000 BTU DIY system! I hired an electrician to install the 115 volt connection w/ 20 amp breaker, once I realized I did not have the proper set up in place to supply the unit with power. I also had the electrician wire the unit, because unless you have advanced knowledge on how to do these things - this project is NOT one I would categorize in the DIY category - even with copious study of the installation guide, and watching instructional youtube videos. This service cost me $847. Now, after only a few short weeks in operation, my unit will not function and is stuck on 'EC' - which means there is a refrigerant leak somewhere. I have sprayed every connection with soapy water as recommended, and I cannot detect air bubbles that would indicate a leakage anywhere. I called MRCOOL tech support, and it appears that my only option at this time is to get an AC technician out to trouble shoot, and I have no idea what my out of pocket costs will be for this next professional intervention, so I guess I'm mostly disappointed in the mis-marketing of this product as being DIY. This has not been the case for me.

Great product and service
I have two of these units in my house that we purchased and are remodelling, a 36,000 btu and now a 12,000 btu. Both are Mr Cool DIY. Both were easy to install. The larger one I did have an electrician hook up the wiring just to be safe. The 12,000, I got it all set up but the outdoor unit would not run. Inside unit ran fine, but the outside unit that does the heating and cooling, would not run. I contacted the seller, they got me in contact with service. They diagnosed over the phone correctly and sent me a new motherboard that showed up fairly quickly and problem solved, we've been running the unit just fine all summer. We'll probably be adding a couple more before we're done.

12K split mini DYI
Pretty easy install, however you do need to run a dedicated electrical line to the fuse box, so I had to get help with that part. Installed about 2 weeks ago working great cool heat and dehumidifies my basement, also comes with a wireless control app so you can adjust the temp from your smart phone before you get home. I would recommend this product, and plan to buy a second one in the near future.

Great choice for 1 room DIY Heat/AC
The unit works great, and is very quiet. The inside air handler was very easy, withLots of videos on YouTube. The Outsidewas a little more difficult, with only afew videos. I liked the one that suggestedUsing expanding foam rather than the puttyThat came with the unit. I also didn’t noticeThat you should only connect the lines onetime till later, luckily I didn’t tighten the connectionWith a wrench. I ordered covers for the lineset, supposedly 4” for Mr Cool, however jammingThe line set into them was a challenge. Nonetheless, all is well that ends well.

Very quiet!!
I had a friend help me (did the electrical part for me) and it only took about 3 hours start to finish. Most of the time was spent running the electricity to the unit. Very quiet and efficient. I would definitely recommend!
