New CD player
I bought this because my 1980's Sony CD component player finally gave up the ghost. This is now my new CD player, hooked straight into my receiver like the old one. Muddy Waters sounds as awesome as ever. Works great!

This is a great player, highly recommend, (old school RCA connector)
Exceptional picture, for the old RCA connectors. Using an old tube TV. arrived right away. box did not have a scratch or dent as it was not shipped FED EX. well built quality like the way things used to be made. easy set up. sound great with good volume. I would purchase again, but I expect this DVD player to last, unlike the plastic cheep model that I did not even watch 10 movies, as it quit working

No HDMI
Easy to hook up and works well. Just know it does not have an HDMI socket.

Works best as a CD player replacement, or DVD player for an old TV
If you're looking for upconverting, 1080p/720p DVD player, this is not for you. It is a basic DVD player which will give you only standard definition 480i picture, which will look poor compared to a DVD played in a blu-ray or upconverting DVD player. In my opinion, the market for this "CD/DVD Player" is people who want a unit devoted to playing CDs, or to people who have an old tube TV or don't care about "high definition" (which this is not).I use it as a CD player. I plug the player via ordinary composite video cable to the composite input on my TV. That way, I can see disk information by pressing the "display" key. You can skip to a different track by pressing the track number (1 or 2 digit) on the numeric keypad followed by the "select" key. Display shows CD length, time remaining, track length, time remaining. Also shuffle and track programming--just like old CD players.Oddly, the back has jacks for component video (RGB), which almost no TV has anymore. If you connect that way, you can get progressive scanning, a slight improvement, but still 480p. No upscaling. So I recommend it as a CD player with video access for display purposes, which you will need because there is no front panel LED display. The sound quality is excellent and this is recommended for its cheap price and sound quality, but not for high quality video.
