Canvas Backpack - Vintage Rucksack with Star Detail By Rothco

I ordered this rucksack after previewing at least ten others. I was really worried about buying one that was strong enough to hold books, a computer, extra shoes, or anything else I need. It arrived on time and I fell in love with the weathered and official look of it. It's large enough to hold textbooks, gym clothes (including shoes), a computer and anything else you might want to carry around. It is also strong which is a big concern if you want to use it everyday. This holds up and looks awesome. A great buy.

I knew going into this purchase that the shoulder straps were on the long side (and they are) from other reviews, but I chose the bag for it's vintage style and it's designated purpose is to hold clothes and small gear on my camping trips. And guess what? It holds my clothes and small items well (duh). :) I did compare it to other 'vintage' style bags available on Amazon, but chose this one for it's visual appeal.The big inner pockets accommodates my 2 D-cell Maglite well, and the smaller inner pocket was just the right fit for my mini-Maglites. The main compartment has a drawstring closure under the main flap, which is a decent system for clothing. How will the bag do for your needs, well that will depend upon your needs.There is no inner or outer frame, so as you'd expect for a cloth bag it will not hold it's shape when empty. But for my purposes that is an arbitrary quality.All in all, I love it. I do plan on purchasing another as I intend to outfit myself with a wide array of 'vintage' style camping accessories.

I had to search through pages and pages of my past orders to find this item, just so I can write a bad review. The parts used on this bag are so cheap, I want other people to know. DO NOT buy this backpack. I've had this backpack for less than a year, but on my 3rd time using it, the fake "metal" clasp that hold shoulder strap in place, just break. I had about 10 pounds in there... Just a camera, and some clothes... And then, when I decided to put it over my shoulder with just one strap so I don't have to hand carry the bag, the 2nd clasp breaks exactly the same way. Steer clear of this product. I keep on having to learn the hard way, that in the end you ALWAYS get what you pay for. This product is complete garbage. Please do not purchase.

I got this backpack on Amazon for about $30 right after I graduated from high school a little over two years ago. Since then, it has literally survived Hell and back. It's been on two mission trips, several camping trips, several overnight trips, and I even used it as a backpack during part of my freshman year of college. It is EXTREMELY sturdy, very durable, and very, very roomy. The two pockets in the front (not the small ones with buckles) are literally big enough for an entire two liter soda (I know, I've tried.) My ONLY complaint about this backpack is that it has no padding or cushioning whatsoever, so it isn't good for putting heavy things in and walking around a lot (across campus every day, for example.) Other than that, it is literally the best backpack I've ever owned.

I bought this for my daughter who was going into high school, it has been very well used. She carried all of her school work and everything else that she could need in it. It would have 5 stars but as it aged it started having a few annoying problems. It has traveled to Canada with her twice and holds a special spot in her heart, I don't doubt that she will continue to use this bag but for it's time for a new school bag.Pros:- has been through two years of rigorous use and abuse, and only now is it really showing wear and tear- can carry EVERYTHING in it, at times it carried about 18 lbs or more- very customizable, can decorate with pins and patches or leave plain- has tons of pockets and places to put stuff- has stood up to teenagers, rain, time, face paint, snow, anger, public school, angst, heat, and dirtCons:- easier to just leave the buckles undone versus struggling with them- also the grommets weren't very high quality and needed to be flattened down to keep her from taking her work out and cutting herself (something which she did quite a few times)- the grommets caused the the pull to fray and break eventually, it was pretty easy to replace but still a pain.- she is small and it is easy for her to over fill the bag and make it too heavy- It was very wide on her, she's only about 5' 2", 115 lbsThis bag is still awesome even though it has a few problems, we would still highly recommend the bad and just say watch out for the grommets.

I LOVE this bag. I am buying a second one for when I wear this one out! It holds it all. Currently mine is holding, a SLR Camera, 2 lenses, 2 notebooks - 1 full size, a Kindle (thank you Amazon), 2 pairs of sunglasses, my make up, my wallet and still has planty of room for a cat (which put herself in there). It's comfortable to carry and wear for long walks, bike rides etc. And will do all of this without being completely in the way! It hugs your body and is only as big as you make it and even full fits by your feet without getting in the way. Plus, and this is a big bonus, the price is right! Under $30. Urban Outfitters and other places had a similar bag, for almost $200. Ridiculous!Happy Shopping!

This pack is amazing and just what I expected. It is very roomy and i can hold many items of my choosing in it. It can be used for school or hiking or anything really. It looks exactly like the picture and made very well except one thing, one strap is considerably longer than the other. Though this does not really make it any less of a quality item. The bag has not broken yet and seems very sturdy although it hangs sorta low on my back. All in all I would recommend to anyone who wants a army looking pack for just about anything.
