The Concert

A bit too much like the studio versions
I was a bit disappointed with this as it these live renditions are not in most cases very different from the studio versions. I don't know what I was expecting but I felt a bit underwhelmed.

Great music and recording in a greatest hits formula
Recorded in 1970 this is basically a greatest hits live session, which of course is tremendous. There is too little feeling of a concert and by this stage they had to cram all the hits into every concert without much improvisation. It is still worth getting but some might feel that they already have everything with the studio recordings. Worth the purchase for the last extended track and reasonably priced. The recently released Woodstock live session is perhaps more interesting but this recording is technically better

Creedence at the top of their game
It's a shame that there isn't more live material available of Creedence Clearwater Revival with acceptable or good sound quality. Even this album was mediocre until it had a proper remaster job. It's superior to the later Live In Europe set. That album not only suffers from a bad sound quality, but also from the fact that the group was reduced to a trio. John Fogerty is a lot, but he is not Jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton, who both had the guitar skills to front a power trio. That is why the remastered The Concert album is such a delight. Tom Fogerty wss still on board strumming away at the rythm guitar, making it possible for John Fogerty to handle vocals and play his licks. Creedence Clearwater Revival truly went downhill after Tom left. A sad ending for a great band.

Great live recording
Great live recording of one of the best bands ever to grace the world of rock. Well recorded with great clarity and quality every track is classic CCR. Buy this and enjoy again and again.

Fantastic album where the classic tunes keep on coming
Get the check shirts out and turn it up to be transported back to the early 1970's. Fantastic album where the classic tunes keep on coming. Makes Kings of Leon sound like a Creedence Tribute act. Treat yourself and enjoy the concert for the price of two pints.

Memories of a great band
Great to hear CCR again in their prime. There was no other quite like them and was sad when they split although John still keeps a-rockin'.
