Excellent amp for Subwoofers
I have been using this amp for around two years now and I love it! I recommend it to all of my friends for their car sub setups and most of the are using it now too. I have used this in my Dodge Ram with two 10" kickers (boost turned town for 10's) and it had excellent sound quality. It also fit nicely under the center console (2003 model). I now use it for two 12" Pioneers in the back of my 4runner and it sounds even better! I used the mounts preinstalled on the amp and have it mounted to the side of my sub box. It has a clean look to it and the backlit boss logo looks slick. (SIDE NOTE: I have had to since cover up the backlit logo because it was reflecting very brightly at night in my rear window. This is not a reflection of boss or the amp quality, just something to keep in mind when installing.) The instillation was very simple, just using the screws to tighten down on the cables. I highly recommend getting the boss wiring kit along with this. It has all of the necessary cables for setup and they are great quality. I do wish the wires came with the amp, but it's not a huge deal as long as you remember to order cables when you order the amp. Pros: - Great Sound Quality - Manual Adjustment of frequencies, bass boost, and power - Has never overheated - Cooling fan is silent - Mounts nicely and cleanly - Powers two 12" with no struggle Cons: - Does not include cables - Does not include screws for mounting - Remote adjustment knob does not seem to work (Not really a big deal to me though)

Compact, easy to install, very decent sound quality for the money!
PROS: small footprint, budget friendly, great sound CONS: despite some claims it still requires adequate air flow to remain cool The application is to power an OEM dual coil 7" subwoofer pulled from another car and placed in the trunk of my daily driver sedan. I'm using and aftermarket head end with line-outs for the subwoofer function. I wasn't looking for anything too big as I needed my trunk space, small as it is but adequately insulated, and I didn't need to heard coming a mile away. Installation was a breeze. I did have to drill mounting holes under the deck but then it came together quickly. All connections are pretty straightforward (if you know, you know). I have the head end set to drive the mid-range door speakers directly (4 of them in standard stereo pairs) with a HPF of 83Hz and max 50W per channel. Lower frequencies makes the door metal panels rattle too much. The sub woofer stereo line outs is set with the LPF function to 120Hz and under. Nominal impedance of the dual coil sub is 2 ohms each wired separately for both of the amp's stereo outputs. The woofer along with amp are all in the trunk with enough insulation to prevent car body rattling. The final sound is better than I expected. Tuning wasn't very hard, a little work for the filter settings but the effort is rewarding and really pays off. You couldn't pay an installer to do better than you like to hear it. Despite some claims of being compact enough for fully enclosed installation, I would not recommend it. This unit can still get hot, especially in the summer time, and it needs ambient airflow for cooling. Would definitely need fans for tight spaces. I never got it hot enough to distort in my trunk but YMMV if you're seeking to put this under the seats or in the console.

Off to a great start! I am impressed!!! Read on....6 years later now.
Edit 2: read bottom of review..... This is my first real review here on amazon so it may have typos, (I'm on my phone) or not the greatest grammar. I just received my 1600 watt mono riot boss amp earlier today 8-2-2016 and proceeded to hook it up. Its being tested and used on the dual 12 Mtx Terminators and so far so good. Haven't done the fine tuning on it or my head unit yet but I have the gain set 2/5 and they sound great for no tuning. For the sake of my review I will start with my initial impression of the amp and update it after I fine tune them. Then 1 week later, and at last 3-6months later. So, let's start with the unboxing. I purchased the 1600 watt mono riot to power my Mtx dual 12 Terminators at 400rms. I did extensive research on this amp and realize BOSS greatly over exaggerates their watts and rms. So I based it off that the 1100 watt riot that can be bundled with the Mtx Terminators is only pushing around 250-300rms at 2ohms according to many reviews I have read. With that math, the 1600 watt amp should be around 360-450 rms at 2ohms. Which would match my subs perfect. And even if I'm wrong, it should be a decent amp to power them at the least, and was purchased at a great price. I purchased a used like new amp from the Amazon wherehouse and it's brand new except for the boss which has a few minor dings. Now, when I opened the box, I was very impressed tbh. It's heavy but not too heavy, feels of high quality materials and it even looks nice (apparently it glows blue where it says BOSS). The bass knob is kind of cheap looking, but at least it comes with one. It has the manual and a BOSS sticker for your car, high level inputs, 2 extra fuses at 25amps a piece and mounting brackets attached to the amp. I ran it earlier for around an hour at mid level volume and it stayed cool (which doesn't mean it won't overheat after extensive use) but off to a good start. It's also 88 degrees outside where I'm at. So I realize there isn't a whole lot to my review to base a real review off of but my initial impression warrants a 4stars. I will update my review in 1 week with more information on my experience with this amp. Edit: it's now been 5 days and it kicks like a champ. I found the sweet spot on my amp for the subs and it bumps. Ran it for over an hour at 3/4 volume and it only got a little bit hot. Nothing major. I am very impressed and will continue to adjust minor things as I feel I have broke my subs in. I do not use bass knob (it does work) but I feel like i have to put the knob higher up than the amp gain knob to get the same sound. It could be just me but whatever. Let's see how the next couple months go and I'll be back for my final thoughts. Still 4 stars and I highhly recommend this amp for budget builds or people on a budget. Also, it looks so dope at night when the amp lights up blue around the BOSS logo in the back of my jeep. Edit2: So amp still is running a few weeks later and has never overheated like some may say. It all depends on location, what it's powering and how hot it is in your area u live. But I've come to realize it sounds decent. Maybe I have gotten used to the bass but it doesn't kick as hard as I feel they can or others have stated with a different amp..once again I have the boss 1600mono amp class a/b powering 2 12 mtx terminators. I am going to purchase a new rockford Fosgate Amp 500w at 2 ohms and will update my review once I hear how it sounds in a few weeks. I have a feeling it's going to be much better sounding and might take a star off my review. Still a cheap priced amp for a cheap build. Also the price has risen to 77$ on amazon in the past few weeks...I bought it for 53$like new. So be careful. Edit 3: 6 years later it finally went died on me. A couple things I've learned over the years. 1. This amp (1600 watt) is only 500rms at 2ohms. Even then it might be less. 2. The price is at 110$ now which is double the price I spent, although 6 years ago. 3. It lasted through 3 cars, and multiple installs. Its a great amp for what you get and for a low rms low budget build. Stick to around 400-500rms. But with all ive learned from car audio, Skar is the best proce to performance out there. If you cant get Skar then this will do.

This baby takes a lot of punishment and keeps on going!
My grandson wanted bass for his birthday. This this amp did the job under a two ohm.Load. and he hasn't blown it up in two years now! It's still doing the job!

Fifty quid Kenwood head unit, fifty quid Alpine speakers, fifty quid Boss amp. Combo punches well above its weight. Great for driving a pair of door speakers if you're not too demanding. I'm buying another to put in my van.

Item arrived on-time in excellent condition and works as described by seller if you take a couple of things into consideration. The 200 Watts spec is the combined ( 2 X 100W RMS ) power of both channels with 2 Ohm speakers. The true RMS power of each channel with a 4 Ohm load is 50 Watts per channel. The amp is specified for speakers between 2 -8 Ohms. With 8 Ohm speakers the RMS power of each channel is 25 Watts. The name " 200 Watt Amplifier " sounds big, just remember it depends on whether it's for each channel and the speakers used. If you want to run the amp at the 200 Watt max level into 2 Ohms load per channel you need a 12 Vdc power source with at least 17 Amps available. In a car, as long as you use appropriate gauge wires and in-line fuses, this max current is available from the car battery. If you want to use the amplifier at full power as a stereo inside your home make sure you get an appropriate BIG 12 Vdc @ min 20A power supply running off the 120 Vac line. Having said that, the distortion level of 0,01% and other specs are really very good. This amplifier is capable of excellent sound. Definitely would recommend it to anyone for various applications.

Powered my Skar 10”subwoofer flawlessly, good quality and hits hard. Definitely doesn’t reach over 1000W, more like 250w. But for the price, this amp is unbeatable
