Great book! and it answered my question.
I'm a Calvinist. I read the other book "Why I am not a Calvinist", and low and behold I became as Calvinist. Both books are wonderfully written. The book I'm rating was written by Calvinist authors. The other book was written by Arminianist authors. If you don't know what I am talking about then that is a reason to ready either, or both books!

Solid Historical, Biblical, and Systematic Approach
A tough book to review fairly in relation to its argument as I came from an Arminian understanding of salvation to a Calvinisitc one by way of similar arguments (to praise it too highly would merely be patting myself on the back!). So aside from its scriptural arguments (which, I'll admit, I do think are convincing), I appreciated this book for a few reasons. 1) It's eminently fair to their opponents. The authors identified the best thinkers on the other side and consistently engage them (to the point of mentioning when a certain author does not address a specific verse). 2) It strikes a nice balance between historical, systematic, and biblical theology. 3) They admit to weaknesses in their arguments and the existence of mystery in theology. As good Calvinists (and not Reformed Scholastics), their inclination is to affirm no more than Scripture does. I was surprised some editorial errors (i.e. Hebrew x:x instead of Hebrews x:x) in a few places. This is a solid introduction to the discussion. Now, on to its companion volume

Excellent book on a difficult subject
As a layman with some Bible School and Seminary training i found the book a !little deep in the weeds in the historical discussion. The Biblical section was worth the wait. I especially appreciated how they, "Presented the truth in love."

Good case for Calvinism
I found this book very helpful in its explanation of the Calvinist perspective. I especially liked how the author makes it a point to take the reader through the history of the debate so that its context can be understood. While this is supposed to be more of a polemic against Arminianism from the Calvinist perspective, the author ends up articulating the Calvinist perspective quite clearly. I'd recommend reading this along side the companion book, "Why I Am Not A Calvinist."

Good companion book for Why I Am Not a Calvinist ...
Good companion book for Why I Am Not a Calvinist and Chosen But Free for a fairly quick, but quite comprehensive, study of the differences in viewpoints commonly held by many Christians. Many scripture references.

Why I Am Not An Arminian
Book was in great condition--looked brand new! It was everything and more of what was advertised. Why must I add all these words??

Truthful but loving
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I believe they wrote accurately about the Arminian beliefs and didn’t mock them as some people do, while showing biblically how their beliefs do not fully line up with Scripture. They also accurately laid out the beliefs of Calvinism, which I prefer to call the biblical view rather than use the name of a man, since Calvin didn’t invent it. If you are against Calvinism, please read this book to understand what Calvinism teaches, then at least you are making an informed decision based on an accurate presentation, rather than listen to those who mock and falsely present Calvinism.
