How to Become a Hero in Your Daughter's Eyes
I bought this for my daughter to use in her 2-bedroom, fourth-floor apartment. She lives in Vermont and doesn't need AC on all the time. But heat rises and getting cool evening air in the apartment is a challenge. She was skeptical when I hauled this into her apartment that this would be any different than the wimpy fan she already owned but she admits that it is magical. Because it can tilt, the fan is turned to blow air OUT a window, and it exhausts hot air out a skylight in one bedroom dormer. She can stand in the other bedroom on the other side of the apartment and feel the cool air blowing hard in through that window. In 20 minutes the apartment has cooled to the outdoor temperature. She is saving on AC when she can cool her apartment from 85 down to 68 degrees in minutes with just the fan. When she is home during the day, she can run the fan and the heat never builds up at all. The fan sits sturdily on typical apartment carpet. It has an industrial fan sound but that is the price one pays to get a cool apartment in minutes! This is a serious fan that does serious work.

Great fan. All I could have wanted.
This fan met all my expectations. I use it in my living room/dining room, even though it is intended for commercial/industrial use. My apartment has very high "cathedral" ceilings, where the hot air rises and gets trapped, making the use of an air conditioner too expensive to be practical. I use it exclusively as an exhaust fan at the sliding door to my balcony. When I turn it on, I can feel air rushing in through the windows of the remote rooms in the apartment. It is powerful enough to blow out most of the hot air within 15 minutes or so. It's a godsend. Assembly was easy, perhaps a 20 minute job in total. All parts were included, and nothing seems rickety about the fabrication at all. I don't know what some of the former reviewers were talking about. The noise level is actually less than what I was expecting. The #3 setting (3670 CFM) would probably be a little too loud to listen to the TV, but the #1 (2940 CFM) and #2 (3330 CFM) speeds are fine, and I don't even play the TV very loudly. It's also made in the USA for anyone who cares about such things.

NOT INDUSTRIAL GRADE
This fan does move a lot of air, however, I would not consider it "industrial grade" as described. The fan motor itself and the blades seem adequate, but the stand is the issue. The construction of the pole and swivel mount is cheap, and I have very serious doubts about durability. As another reviewer commented, it also wobbles horribly at low speed. I can't even use it on low... it wobbles to the point where it seems it will fall over. One of these days if/when I have the time and the willingness, I'll remove the 15-20 screws that hold the cage together and try to balance the blades. In the past, I have had true industrial grade fans. THIS FAN IS NOT INDUSTRIAL GRADE. It's a decent motor on a piece of junk stand. I needed a non-oscillating fan with an up-and-down pivot functionality. This fan will serve my purpose but barely and I suspect I'll be looking for a better option soon. No matter your use, if you need an industrial/commercial grade fan, avoid the disappointment and don't buy this one.

Very powerful, not too smooth
The three settings could be; holy s***, way too high and a little more than you really need. We were sick of the cheap wally-world fans that only suggested air movement, so the power is OK. However the fan was substantially off balance, on a slab like in a garage I never would have noticed, but in our house (100 yrs old this year) it was easily felt strongly vibrating over 20' away through the floor. The blades can be slid forward & back on the motor shaft so I pushed them back towards the motor as far as was safe, and got about 20 - 30% improvement. So I took the blades out and added about 1 gram to the outer edge of the lightest blade, voila, combined with setting the blades back a 90% improvement, vibrations only being detectable if touching the fan.I contacted the maker, and they did respond, they offered to send another blade, but couldn't advise what standard they balance to or consider acceptable, and since I know how to balance I chose to adjust the set I had instead. Over all the fan is pretty well made, the base is very solid, the rest of the stand is relatively light weight though, this isn't the old cast iron fan they had in the shop your grandfather worked in, I think for the money it could really be better balanced as delivered.

Love this fan!
I had a Honeywell Industrial fan for YEARS before it went kaput. I could not find a fan to replace that one, so I settled for a regular fan. Not good! I could not sleep. I need that air that blows like a hurricane and the noise that makes everything else disappears. This fan does it for me. There are 3 speeds and I find that the second one blows so much air that I have a hard time keeping my blankies in place, but I LOVE it. It is loud, so if you want quiet... this is not for you!Sidenote: While this fan is sturdy and easy to put together, I did find a con. I have a tile floor and where it was sitting was not "spot on level" so the fan literally sounding like a helicopter because it vibrated. Easy solution... I put a microfiber bath mat on underneath and wa-la fixed!
