Love this calculator!
The shipping was amazing and I got it right before a test I really needed the calculator for. All of the things that were described in the description were included and the calculator functions well. I would definitely buy and recommend purchasing calculators from Syracuse Calculators because they give you awesome deals for calculators that you need.In terms of how the product works, I have to say that I prefer the good old TI-84 silver edition than this more updated version. The color screen on the calculator is great, and typing in exponents are pretty great on this calculator as well, which is mostly what many of the classes I have to take seem to venture towards eventually, but the speed of the calculator when you type in the simplest thing to solve, 1+1, it seems to lag and slow down a bit before you can actually get the answer. I know that this isn't a big deal and you could just be patient for a couple of seconds until the answer pops up, but when you are taking a timed test......ugh, it gets annoying. >:(That said, don't think that it takes like five minutes before you get an answer, lol; it only takes like a couple of seconds vs. the older models which give you an answer ASAP.Another thing I do like very much about this calculator is that you can just charge it. I don't have to do out and buy some batteries every time they need some....Anyways, Thank you Syracuse Calculators for your great service!

A Very Nice Upgrade to the TI84 Silver Edition
I am a mathematics teacher at the college level and I have taught in middle and high schools as well. I waited for a while before upgrading to this calculator from the standard TI 84. I have long been a fan of Texas Instruments calculators and I have taught with them for years. Several on here have commented about the slowness of the graphing with this new model. But, as mentioned by a few other reviewers, if you go to the FORMAT menu (2nd Zoom) and turn off "Detect Asymptotes," it will graph every bit as good or better (faster) than its predecessor. The graph is crisp and clear and the pixels are not as obvious because of the quality of the display. If you have used the original TI84 you will not be used to a function called "Detect Asymptotes" anyway, so you do not need that additional functionality.Others have lamented about the lack of memory available on this "upgrade." That is not important from my perspective as a mathematics professor. If you want something for games, then go get a tablet or something. This unit does exceptionally well for what it was intended to do. The TI84 will remain a favorite of mine for a long time.At first I was concerned about the lithium battery. In particular I was concerned about replacing it. However, Texas Instruments does sell a replacement battery for this and for the TI Nspire units. Addition Texas Instruments claims that this battery should last at least three years if it is taken care of properly. I have only had this calculator for about 30 minutes, but I can tell you that I will be very happy with this purchase. I cannot imagine anyone who would not be happy with the TI 84+ C edition. Just take proper care of it and you'll be fine! If you need an inexpensive graphing calculator, then go buy a used TI83+ instead. Even so, the resale value of these guys makes it worth it, in my opinion, even if you only need it for one semester or so. Definitely read the guidelines for battery upkeep to maximize the life of your battery, and remember to charge it fully before taking tests! (Don't blame the battery if it fails you when you didn't charge it!)

Slow, unresponsive, overall more cumbersome
I've had this calculator for 2 months and there are a lot of problems. Do not buy this calculator if you value speed, simplicity, and reliability. It will work for slow, high-school calculations but cannot handle college-level, calculation-intensive functions.I've been using TI graphing calculators all my life, but recently purchased the color TI84 since I lost my old black and white TI84. This new calculator is pretty horrible and doesn't fit my needs at all because although they increased the resolution and have colors, the company did not change the processor. Therefore simple calculations like 1+1 take significantly longer to appear on the screen because the processor is slower to refresh the higher resolution display. In addition, programs (even the simplest ones) take about 3 seconds to load, let alone run (compared to ~.5 on a B&W TI83 or 84).Parenthesis and equation conventions have changed. TI thought it would make lives simpler by "intuitively" doing parenthesis for you, but in doing so, just made the overall accountability of parenthesis-heavy calculations more confusing and unnecessarily annoying. For example, doing e^(xyz)*(123) on a regular B&W TI would automatically put the "123" as a multiplier of the exponent, which is conventional in the order of operations, but on the TI84C, you must manually specify which term is the exponent and which is the coefficient, which does nothing but make the calculation more confusing. On multiple occasions, I've entered an equation and have it output completely wrong answers even when the equation on the display is accurate. The problem arises from the calculator automatically judging order of operations for the user.Lastly, and possibly most frustratingly, typing in equations too quickly will cause the calculator to not register certain keystrokes, which is never never an issue on a B&W TI83/84. I believe it is because the processor takes so long to refresh the screen after keystrokes that pressing a button during this refresh phase will cause the device to ignore that input. As an engineering student, speed and reliability are incredibly important when performing calculations. When this calculator trades speed, reliability, and accuracy for some bad color and resolution upgrades, the calculator becomes a last resort.
