A bargain for a wizard of a knife
New knives attract me like dogs to a bone and I was in the market for a new paring knife. The fact that this knife had a sheath with it was a major drawing factor as I usually just throw all my knives in a drawer which isn't good for them, and then to find out that it was nonstick was the final slam of the door as far as I was concerned. I was sold. The pretty purple color didn't hurt matters either although it clashes terribly with my kitchen decor but is oh so easy to find. I've had and used this knife for almost two years and it is as sharp and nonstick as it was the day I purchased it. It cuts through just about anything I plunge it's little blade into.....cheeses, raw potatoes, veggies....everything is cut perfectly and without having to wipe my blade off. The size is perfect for me. I like a smaller knife to wield around when I'm in one of my cooking frenzies. Nothing makes me happier than to chop chop chop all the wonderful goodies in preparation for cooking. I always keep this knife clean, sometimes just rinsing off and drying, but other times washing VERY carefully by hand in hot soapy water. Did I mention that this blade is super sharp? It can slice off any finger that isn't paying attention and gets in the way. The cost of this knife is a real bargain due to the quality and durability. You can't go wrong in getting one for yourself.

Wonderful pairing knife, works on all sorts of kitchen ingredients!
I love this brand of knives! I have 6 different types, as well as the pie/cake cutters, can opener, and peeler! I seriously love how well-made Kuhn Rikon products are (and I love that they all come in red!). I originally bought my first knife based on reviews of how well they cut EVERYTHING! And it's true, they work really well. I have some very expensive knives in my collection, and these work just as well. And they are red (I love having red in my kitchen!). I've used this knife on nearly everything I have to cut in the kitchen that is size-appropriate, and have been happy with the results. My first knife I've had for nearly 6 years, and it is still working amazingly well. I would probably say it's starting to dull a little bit, but I use that knife a lot, so that's not really a surprise. For example, I used to be able to gently set the blade on a tomato, and it would start slicing through like a hot knife on butter--now, I have to apply a little pressure for it to start cutting through the tomato. So really, they still work really well after all this time. I'm slowly starting to replace my other knives with these... the only thing slowing my full replacement is that not all the knives I want are in red yet (no matter, I'll just wait :) ). If you are looking for a sharp, stylish knife that won't break the bank, please look into this knife, and others that are in the Kuhn Rikon inventory. I haven't been disappointed by one yet.

It Slices! It Dices! But wait, there's more...
No this is not a plug for Ron Popeil and his famous Chop-O-Matic of television legend, that entertained us in the '50s. But I have to say that this little Kuhn Rikon 4-Inch Nonstick Colori Paring Knife will live up to most of your slicing and dicing needs. It's a handy addition to any kitchen, and is a true kitchen bargain. Purchased my first one of these a few years ago as an impulse buy, as it had been recommended by a friend who knew what she was doing in the kitchen, and had bought one herself for light general kitchen slicing. I never expected it to last for the price, but it did, and it's become a favorite even though I have other kitchen knives that cost far more. These knives are very sharp, and are probably the best paring knives that I've had. They're designed in Switzerland by Kuhn Rikon, and have Japanese carbon steel blades, which are excellent for being sharp and staying that way. If you're so inclined you can use the green for vegetables, the red for meats and such, and the yellow for fruits. My first one, over two years old, shows very little wear on the non-stick color coating, and foods release from the blade easily. For those of us who store out casual kitchenware in drawers, the plastic sheaths protect the blades and keep them sharp. And according to Kuhn Rikon, "putting your knives in the dishwasher is safe, but washing them by hand will extend the life of your knives over time." But no matter who makes a knife or how well they may be treated, all knives are will need sharpening at some point. From personal experience, the Kuhn Rikon Mini-Pro Knife Sharpener handles that task very well, and it sharpens German and Japanese steel blades as well as nonstick coated blades. Just don't use it on serrated or ceramic blades. In short, these Kuhn Rikon Colori Paring Knives are a good 5-star product, and an excellent value for the money. But let me close with the famous words from those infomercials for the Chop-O-Matic hand food processor from the '50s. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to show you the greatest kitchen appliance ever made... All your onions chopped to perfection without shedding a single tear."

Great Paring Knife
I got one of these for my girlfriend as a housewarming gift. I have one of their bread knives and liked the colors they come in. She needed a paring knife, and purple is her fav color, so this was a perfect match. The blade is super sharp out of the package. The case fits a bit snug, and is a bit confusing which way the blade goes in. It fits either way. These are a great starter knife, or would be great to take camping or use on a picnic since the cover fits so well. Very secure to throw in a box, basket, or bag. The blade also sharpens really easily, and seems to hold an edge. The biggest downside to me is the handle. Cheap and small feeling. I have big hands, and it is not ideal for me. Also it could become slippery. It may not be professional quality, but it is better than many more expensive knives I have used.

Love My New Paring Knife!
This is a very good knife. It comes well sharpened and holds the edge for a long time. I've had this paring knife for about a month now. I use it regularly, and it's still sharp. I've only had to hone the edge once (*cough* because I used it to open a can *cough*). It's comfortable to hold. The sheath is snug and doesn't slip off accidentally. I keep mine in my apron (I'm a professional cook btw), and I've had a sheath slip off my paring knife and cut through my apron while bending down before. Not a problem with this one. My other coworkers have been eyeing my knife (which is why I got a hot pink knife this time). I bought one six months ago, only in blue, and that one went missing before I bought this last one. I suspect one cook in particular, but I've got no proof, so I'm letting go. But it's a great knife, and I know that thieving cook would agree.

Excelent knives, even for a chef
I am in culinary school and of course I use the big names for my main chef's knives, Sabatier, Henckels, etc. For paring knives and other little utility purpose knives, these kuhn rikons are excellent The knife guarde fits perfectly into the side pocket on most chefs jackets, making for a handy knife when you need it, for anything from opening boxes to quickly cutting up some shallots The steel seems like it holds an edge reasonably well, and they take to a hone like any other knife I look around and i see at least 1 in 10 chefs i meet have a rikon paring knife, all the various colors and patterns means you can mark out a bit of individuality while still having a functional knife Everyone needs at least one, its an excellent product for the price, just buy one
