Hobby Boss Dutch Leopard 2A5/A 6NL MBT Vehicle Model Building Kit

Just acquired this kit last week. Have not built it yet but the sprues look good, minimal flash and sharp detail. It comes with minimal decals for a Dutch unit. The part count is low and construction looks fairly easy, in line with a Tamiya kit.The downside is the tracks, which are sort of flimsy rubber band style and were a little crumpled in the box, but usable. Aftermarket is surely available for those that do that.... I generally don't mind one piece if a side skirt hides a lot of it. The other downer is the clear parts (periscopes, view ports etc) are represented not in clear styrene but as a sheet of clear acetate with pre cut parts. These don't work well because my clear part method is to add them after painting when possible, or (better yet) glue on the clear parts with something strong like epoxy or gel super glue, mask them with tape or liquid frisket and then apply holographic film for super realism...well done glass makes or breaks a model.This kit has two main gun barrels, one long and one short. There are some good online reference pictures of leopards in snow camouflage and that's what I have in mind. Breaks up the monotony of a collection that's heavy on green and desert tan.
